1-2 sets of hanging per day - Waste of time?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently jelqing and pumping, looking both for length and girth. I’ve never really liked stretches and hanging was what gave me the best gains in the past (possibly due to tremendous consistenty). However, I won’t have that much time to spare.

Do you think 1-2 sets per day hanging would be a waste of time or could it yield some gains in a 6 month + period?

Maybe I’ll just have to start doing manual stretches although I hate them.

How long has it been since you were hanging consistently? It is possible you are conditioned for a more strenuous hanging routine and won;t make gains from a lesser routine. But you may be deconditioned and ready to gain again from hanging.

If you feel the need to go to stretches I would recommend a tool like the lengthmaster and the gripping trainer. They are great for performing manual stretches more easily and with greater intensity.

It’s probably at least a year. Haven’t really done any stretching either. But I have the feeling I’m still somewhat conditioned.

Bib suggests a minimum of 10 hours a week with no days off if you plan on hanging for gains, regardless of the hanger you use. At 20 minutes sessions that works out to be 30 sessions a week. Which is 4 - 5 sessions a day.

I know what Bib suggests and I’ve gained with less than that. I did also do piss pulls whenever I could and tried using an ADS.

But 1-2 sets per day may not be enough to cut it…

I won 0.6cm in seven months with bib

I never went to 3 sets of 15 min per day.
I never got to 6 hours per week.

To make gains, you have to make minimum 2 sets

There is something called “hardcore hanging” that some guy called DashDeming came up with over at MoS. Basically it involves working your way up to heavy weights, but only hanging 1-2 sets a day. I tried it after I took well over a year off and really had no results. Dash and others have supposedly gained quite well from it. I couldn’t get to 30 lbs because my hanger kept slipping, so I was stuck at 27.5 lbs.


Serious starting point: Nov. 2, 2009/BPEL 5.75 x 4.75 inches.

Current BPEL 7 1/2 x 5.5 inches.

Goal: BPEL 8 x 6 inches. Hell, if I hit 8, I'm going for 9!

There is a possibility you could gain from it, there was a guy before who gained quite well from doing 2 sets a day. 1 set would be far too little in my opinion. 2-3 would be more ideal, at least. If it is an issue that are pressed for time, try to space out your sets throughout the day more. Get in sets wherever you can.

I did 2 sets a day - 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening at heavy weights. That way, my unit was kept in a weakened state. I gained a whopping 1/8” after about 4-5 months. Needless to say, I may be done gaining at lower angles.

Sounds like an waste of time to me :/, can you tell me about your hang endeavor? You say you gained alot from hanging?
