10min hang

10min hang

Does anyone only hang for 10min at a time? As of the past few hang sessions I ended up getting blisters. I find it difficult to understand if it is discomfort from the weight pulling the ligs or if it is pain. I usually push thru until I hit the 20min mark. I am wondering if anyone does 10min hang 5min rest routine? Or should I go 10min hang 10min rest?

Where is the pain? I’ve been hanging for a month and any discomfort I feel is deep in my fat pad (possibly ligaments) or where I’ve trapped skin in the hanger Lol.

I do think ideally you should stick to 20 minute sets but if you can’t handle it just go down to 10 or 15 and I’d still take a 10 minute break to let blood circulate.

I got two blisters in the past month. One on the bottom of shaft and the other on the side. Maybe its my wrapping? I have been hanging for 3 months or so prior to the blisters. I have increased to 10lbs. Maybe I should try another wrap?

Unless you’re using a VAC hanger, getting blisters is quite unusual.

What is your wrap and what hanger are you using?

Using a bib hanger. Ace bandage with theraband. Maybe wrap is too loose?

Here’s my suggestion for you: get a new underwrap.

i wonder why so many people use an ace bandage? i think what-a-grip or HTW is superior. i have seen more than a few reports from guys bruise themselves severely when using an ace bandage. the problem is, it makes the wrap too thick, then you’re forced to make the hanger too tight to stop it from slipping. this can result in bruising. once you change your wrap you may find you no longer have this issue.

Thanks will try to source that and purchase it. Ace was used since bib sent it with his pack

Are you sure about that? I bought a hanger from bib in 2008 and he only sent theraband with it. I wonder if you bought your hanger before or after me (and are you sure Bib included an ace bandage?)

I often see Bib tell guys not to use an ace bandage on his forum (for the reasons I mentioned above).

Yeah Bib send theraband with his hangers….blink2000- isn’t it recommended that the teeth be close to touching, if not actually touching? I find it hard to judge how tight it is so this is what I was going to base it on?

The idea behind the teeth not being fully meshed right away is that you will have to tighten the hanger during the set.

If the teeth are fully meshed it means you can’t make the hanger any tighter, which means sooner or later it might slip.

Really, that’s the only reason that’s being suggested (don’t mesh the teeth all the way because you leave no room to make it tighter).
