Advantages of splitting hanging sessions
My biggest obstacle in hanging, so far, is skin soreness.
The skin irritation gets unbearable after about 6 sets, especially on the 4th and 5th hanging day.
The second biggest obstacle for me is the vast time consumption that hanging will incur.
While hanging BTC, I am essentially immobilized.
I used to set aside a 3-4 hour block of time every day to do my hanging.
During this time I would watch TV, spend time at Thunder’s, or read a book.
But I wasn’t accomplishing important things that I needed to get done.
I decided to split my sessions to 3 sets/2 times per day.
On the first day I try to do as many sets as I can to get to the fatigued state.
Then after that, doing 3 sets/2 times a day feels quite effective.
The advantages thus far:
-It is the end of skin soreness and irritation.
-It is much easier to steal away 90 minutes** during the day. For example, I can easily do this before and after my night’s sleep.
-I can use heavier weight.
-I can hang 6 or 7 days per week because my skin isn’t so beat up and raw.
(Even though Bib says to rest 2 days per week, he also said he tried to sneak a few sets in on his days off. Plus, I see no reason not to *safely* ride that fatigue as long as you can.)
**3 sets take me 90 minutes to complete. That includes warm-up and breaks.
Does anyone see disadvantages to what I am doing?
