Is it necessary to increase hanging weight?

Is it necessary to increase hanging weight?

I’m having some difficulty with slippage. I currently hang using a compression hanger, and I generally use around 15 lbs. Is it necessary to incrementally increase the weight further? I’ve found that I can increase the weight further if I reduce the set time to 5 minutes. By the end of the set, the compression device is situated just behind the glans and things quickly get very painful.

I bet you’re not attaching it correctly or have a hanger that can’t handle that much weight. There shouldn’t be any pain to speak of.

I’m using the compression hanger from TM, but I’m considering trying the bib hanger. I’m thinking that one issue is that the tissues haven’t fully adapted to the compression stress yet. I’ve since reduced the weight and am now methodically journaling everything.

It’s possible that’s the issue.

Let me just tell you that I hung SD/BTC for a long time and the skin stretch concealed poor hanging technique. When I started hanging SO (skin no limiting factor) - my hanger would quickly slide to my head and cause me pain. I realized that the hanger was not attaching correctly and this forced me to learn how to hang properly. I’m sure that at some weight it will be hard to hang comfortably, but let’s just say that on average I learned to hang with at least 15 lbs without any pain/slippage.

I have a thread about this. I’m sure you can find it if you click on my profile. It’s possible the Bib is better. I do not know anything about that.

*edit* It’s $160.00 + shipping, etc. I’m gonna try sticking with the TM for now, but if I hit a wall at any point I’ll try the Bib.

My thread could still be helpful for you, I think. For all I know, the TM may be a better hanger.

I’ve hung 25lbs with a homemade hanger that was a slightly modified version of the Tom Hubbard design and never had slippage. It’s got to be your wrapping, or your not tightening the hanger enough - or both.
