PVC hanger

has anyone seen the homemade PVC hanger? its probably a pretty old design, but works very well for griping the shaft from all sides…kinda like a hose clamp. i’m new to the forum, and don’t want to post “old news” but if anyone is interested i could try and take pictures of my hanger…only costs a few bucks to make…and holds a lot of weight. basically acts somewhat like a wide hose clamp.

I’d be interested in seeing that, I tried to make one with a similar concept a couple months ago, but it didn’t work very well.

I have had troubles and several false starts with hanging, I think it’s due to being uncut + having the hanger slip over the end of my johnson (ouch).

i’ll try and posts some pictures and instructions. i am not uncut, so maybe this will not work for everyone, but i can easily hang 15-20# with it (probably more), although i don’t use that much weight…but i have tried it before. it is basically (2) thin PVC sleeves…sorta “C” shaped. they overlap one another so that the slots do NOT align. you use a standard vehicle hose clamp on the outside. when the hose clamp tightens, the sleeves collapse or slide inside of each other creating a clamping force on all sides of the shaft. very simple idea, and works very well. plus you do not have to use all of this wrapping on the shaft. i use the top of a tube sock.
