Starting Hanging Today

Hi everyone,

I plan to start hanging from today. I have just checked out lil12big1’s hanging thread and he suggests hanging for 5 days a week, at least while only just starting out. Is this recommended? Or would hanging everyday be beneficial as long as correct procedures were followed?

I was planning on hanging for 45 minutes each day, 3 sets of 15 minutes with 5-10 minutes rest periods in between each set. Also, since my plates are in KG I was thinking of starting out with 2KG (4.4lb). Do you recommend increasing the weight each week? Or each month?

Does that sound OK for someone like me who is just starting out at hanging?

It sounds perfect to me, that is how I started out hanging, As I only had 2kg plates also. I would leave it a month or maybe more before increasing weight. It depends how well you get on with wrapping, that is the main art involved with hanging. It took me a few months to find a wrapping style I liked. And a material that i preferred. I went through the usual, T shirts, socks, ace bandages. Then i found something I liked. Your from the UK so I’m guessing you know what a flannel or “wash cloth” I think its called in the states. I found this ideal when using the redi stretcher. But each to this own. 5 days on 2 days off is good for the first month. After that I went for no rest periods, but once again its personal preference. I would recommend you try traction wrapping after hanging, as to keep yourself in the elongated state for as long as possible.
I would also warm up before hanging, and down. And keep the warming throughout your rest periods also, Rice socks are ideal when hanging as they create no mess at all.

Good luck on your hanging quest. I’m sure that once I’m finished in this forced Deco period, and start with the newbie routine again for 3 months. That I’m going to look into hanging once again, more discretely perhaps the vacuum hanger and combining it with ADS.

There are two schools of thought on this subject. One says that it is impossible to overwork length, and you should stretch/hang as much as possible.

The other says that stretching/hanging every day (or even 5 days per week) is counterproductive, and that doing too much can actually inhibit gains.

Consider yourself a guinea pig :) .

I have an IR lamp that I bought last week for my leg, as it sometimes troubles me when I run. So I’ll probably use that in between sets.

I think for now I’ll probably just stick with hanging 5 days a week. As with increasing the weight, I’ll just play it by ear. Whenever I feel like I’m ready to progress, I’ll increase the weight a little. If I don’t feel I’m ready, I’ll just stay where I’m at at.

An IR lamp is excellent, Keeping heat on your unit even whilst hanging I think you will find especially helpful. If I combined hanging with using my rice sock I felt a much harder stretch, as heat will make the tissues and ligaments more pliable. I was going to get the IR lamp before I knew I was going to have to move. So I think using this through the duration of your hanging session will help increase gains alot.

Just an advice: if you gained nothing after 3 months, don’t stick with this routine .. ;)

I’ve started Bib hanging and Is it ever a boon. I’m uncut and everything seems to be working fine. I’ve started with a weight size or barbell size of 5 pounds and I don’t feel much if any pain at all. I felt somewhat of a stretch and the longest I hanged for the first day was a 12 minute set and I freaked cause my glands were getting quite dark and somewhat cold.. Is this a bad sign?

I warmed down immediately the whole crotch area and accumulated all-together for this day about 30 minutes of hanging. Soon the lower weight amounts will become useless and I will have to add more and more as the tissues will break and get stronger. I sucked so much balls at first I was all over the place.

I have to make kind of a schedule though and add all my whole routine work and overall make some consistent routine that makes sense. It’s just a good reminder to keep in mind to warm down after each set of hanging or your cock will lose it’s blood and could cause drastic cellular death. It’s not impossible.

I’m exhausted for today and I felt that ominous frontal lig stretch inside I sort of mentioned up above. For the first day I’m amazed I even got the damn thing to actually work which is goddamn incredibly impressive for an uncut guy.

I also got a head work out as well which is also a boon.
