Hi all,

I’m on a pumping/jelqing routine and reasonably happy with progress so far. However, I seem to be getting more and more foreskin edema (the donut effect for circumcised guys). I know firegoat has said the more you get the more it will come back, so I’d like to avoid it without changing my routine too much. I’ve heard people say you can tape your foreskin or stuff like that.

Does anyone have a tape recommendation that will work for this? Any other tactics?

Doughnuts in pumping are caused by too high vacuum level, and/or too much time. To eliminate it you need to reduce one or both and closely watch for when it starts. Or you learn to live with it.

I had the same thoughts. I have about 2.5 years of consistent pumping in. I have spent that time monitoring many variables to optimize my routine. Any time I go too long or too high in vacuum I get edema in the circumcision scar area. Of course “too long or too much vacuum” is an individual thing so you will have to work to step back your approach to find your sweet spot for both.
For reference, my too long is anything where I start to get past 45-60 minutes total workout time or too high is to stay above 5 in-Hg in vacuum.

Spot on. The only other variables are how recently you’ve had a doughnut and whether you’ve had a break from pumping.

If you had a doughnut yesterday, you’re more likely to easily get one today. And if you’ve had a couple of weeks off from pumping, generally the first session or two back you need to be more careful with the time and vacuum level or you are more likely to get a doughnut or red spots more easily.

A regular, controlled routine is the best option, although occasionally it’s ok to push it, risk a doughnut, then take three or four days off, as long as you’re a fairly experienced pumper and are not worried by it.

Avoiding donuts

I pump with low pressure for long sessions to get a big and long lasting edema, but I don’t want a unsightly donut.

To prevent this I pump with my penis taped with Velcro One-Wrap (soft side in) around the corona.

Hello Gymnosophe question for you would be when you apply the tape. My assumption would be it must be after you’re erect?

If it’s being done around the corona I’m assuming it’s not done tightly?

Any insight on the the best way to handle it would be wonderful.

There are multiple ways to skin this cat. I perform several shorter sets, 10-15 minutes each. Extremely rare that I exhibit a donut and my cock is nice and thick come game time. There is still edema, but it is more controlled and uniform.

I actually just stumbled across a way to eliminate it completely in a very short amount of time. Was going to start a new thread but this one is perfect. So aside from pumping, I’m also doing foreskin restoration. A device I have for that is called the foreskinned air. You basically attach it to your foreskin and then pump your skin up backwards like a balloon. I wear mine for an hour at a time and just recently started putting it on right after pumping. I pump till I get a fair amount of edema, my wife and I don’t mind it, she kind of likes it actually. But I was just expiramentimg and found it pushes the fluid right out of the skin. I even can pump another couple sets after and it doesn’t come back any faster.

For me it’s basically 10 minute sessions, and no edema after the second 10, mild edema after the 3rd and major if I go a 4th. But after wearing the foreskin inflation device, it’s the same, and I’m talking pumping again an hour after my last set. I can do three ten minute sets and get right back to the same mild edema. I might mess with trying an all day session some day when I have the time and privacy. I’m only using 5hg on the vacuum so it’s pretty gentle.
