Hi PE’rs,
I’ve been experimenting with a sleeve-type contraption I made out of elastic Ace bandage. I took a 4-inch wide strip of material and cut two, 4-inch long pieces. I rotated the pieces so the elastic “stretch” was in the lateral (or radial) direction as opposed to the longitudinal direction like the original material on the Ace bandage roll. Then I proceeded to stich the pieces together using a simple “loop” stitch to form an elestic tube that stretches to accomodate girth or changes thereto and that is long enough and stretchy enough that I can roll it up like a condom and put it on accordingly (lube optional). When I put it on I make sure that the seems from the stitching are oriented more to the outside surface of the sleeve so as not to cause too severe indentation.
As for size, an approximate 4-inch circumferance in the tube that will easily stretch 60% suggests a practical girth range of 4 - 6.4 inches, or so. There is a little longitudinal stretch so most of the vacuum force is focused at the base of the tube. I get a nice pull effect.
Results:
Works great! - no donut after 20 minutes at 5 inch Hg vacuum, totally reusable, fairly easy to get on (you have to be hard though), and it does really limit surface engorgement. I get very slight lines from the stitches that disappear quite quickly and no where nearly as severe as the indentation from a condom base ring furrow. To get the same “pull” at the root, you need modestly higher vacuum (like 6 vs 4 of maybe 7 vs 5 - still fairly moderate settings), and you could gently handwash the sleeve with Woolite so as not to kill the stretch. Oh yeah . . . I almost forgot - you get a terrific all-day “pump” on your unit after taking the sleeve off. So far, so good.
Cheers,
