The Physics of Water Pumping

I know that it is an issue that the Bathmate has no gauge but if the penis size is the same size in a tube which is pressurised by mouth and it reaches the same size in the Bathmate would the pressure be the same using water? If the ordinary tube had a gauge then this would be more accurate.

Would this be an indication of pressure or would the internal size of the tube have a different effect? I don’t know the internal volume of the Bathmate as the rubber base would vary volume.

I think the question you are really asking is can you use your dick as a pressure gauge? ie if a dick expands to to the same length in a bathmate as an air tube sucked by mouth would the vacuums be the same? Assuming the cylinders were similar in diameter and the temperature was the same I suspect they should be roughly the same. Changes in dick flexibility brought about by a different temperature would affect the result.

It’s not safe to gauge pressure based on expansion, the tunica will only expand so far then stop but pressure can keep increasing.

I always found expansion stopped about 6”hg even if I kept increasing pressure as high as 15”hg.

Much safer to go by sensation or better still sensation and a gauge.

The gauge reading is equal to the partial vacuum at the surface of the water, below which it drops linearly.
At equal gauge readings, water pumping creates a smaller pressure difference than air. This effect becomes relatively smaller as you increase the partial vacuum.

The water pressure gradient is available as a result of earth’s gravity. This implies that the lowest pressure is available at the highest water level.

Revisiting water pump process

Hi all,

A while ago, I was testing a gauge and did a quick air pump (I normally do water) and got my first donut from a pump at relatively low pressure in a very short time. I wondered at that time about the water pump being “gentler” than air via this thread and kind of forgot about it.

My desire is increase EQ and girth, focus on mushroom head for my wife, length would be a bonus. Constraints are needing to do this in stealth mode (at least until the Mrs. Notices) and a minimum available time - about 30 min in the shower 5 days on (weekdays). I found myself packing my first cylinder pretty well, moving to a 2” from 1.75”, where I found my scrotum pulled into the larger cylinder, which is irritating but a tug puts everything back in place - no testicle creep, just scrotal sac.

I’ve been changing my routine from the incremental gprent routine to a more cyclic routine, slowing increasing pressure under water to where I am today. I purchased an adhesive tape measure, which works great to measure length in the tube under pressure.

Here’s where I am, I think I have only been able to proceed this way without donuts, etc. Due to the nature of water vs. Air as expressed in this thread.

10.5 minute cycle - smaller tube (packed up to the circ scar)
10.5 minute cycle - larger tube (packed for about an inch or so)

Each 10.5 min cycle is:
(enter semi-hard, no porn, I don’t fap, thanks to the Mrs.)

(original calibration)
1. Pump until I reach my starting BPEL - currently starts at about 7” hg, then reduces to 3” hg after the first cycle. - this is my base, hold for 15 sec
2. Pump until .25 inch increase in length - about 10” hg first cycle, 7” hg subsequent cycles, hold for 15 sec.
3. Pump until .5 inch increase in length - about 13” hg first cycle, 12” hg subsequent cycles, hold for 30 sec
4. Go back to 1.
5. At 10 minutes, instead of decreasing, increase pressure to 15” hg for 30 sec, then release

Same cycle, both cylinders.

The way I came up with this was to arbitrarily set the first cycle at BPEL (approx as my unit is tape measure and ruler shy), the second just at the beginning of a stretch feeling, the third just below a pain level on first cycle, increasing until I saw no more expansion in length with a pump at the last cycle. I figured pumping with no length increase in my graduated cylinder was a guarantee of injury.

I am circumcised, so I wrap the shaft from the scar to the corona (just under) for support of the rather thin skin to avoid edema, which I found even at very small pressure levels (3 in hg) if unwrapped.

This set my basic cycle pressures - 3” hg, 7” hg, 12” hg and burst to 15” hg at the very end of each cycle.

I do some basic stretches for warmup and pump in shower water as hot as I can stand it.

My theory was that extended time under pressure creates edema (from several posts here), which does no good so cycling short time under higher pressures might increase benefit vs. Negatives. The only other thing I do is to use a couple of size 18 tungsten carbide rings (amazon search for jumbo wedding bands - $10 each) to prevent turtling and provide a small all day stretch. Rings come off before bedtime (stealth mode).

Results have been promising and I think it is because of water pumping. If I understand the thread, these pressure measurements may be overstating the actual pressure felt by my unit. If I did this routine with air pressure, I might be more subject to injury based on my first experience with air. Not really encouraged to try air.

So 6 weeks in and the same pressure cycle is putting me .5 above BPEL at 3” hg, another .25 at 7” hg, and just a smidge (.125 perhaps) at 15” hg. I watch for expansion as I go from 12 to 15 to make sure there is movement and not just more stress on the unit without increase. I have to watch pressure at all times, as any expansion in length or girth reduces the pressure.

EQ results have been great, much firmer, constant morning wood you can hang a hand towel on, the rings all day have me with a chubby most of the time, and BPEL has increased by .5 inch as far as I can measure it before unit shyness kicks in. Haven’t been able to get a good girth measurement, but I think the Mrs. Is enjoying it more. She certainly likes to edge me more for fun at will, but that might be the Sukrew crotchless trunks, now my standard pajamas. (no affiliation - got them for the all day hang and she loves them)

Next step is to add another 10.5 min cycle with cold water (from another thread) and see if there is any impact.

One other modification just today - I put the rings on and taped them together before pumping (this covers the circ scar to the corona nicely) and was able to avoid the slight pain of removing the tape following a pump as well as the slight pain if the tape sticks too tightly to the shaft as it expands into the cylinder. Made the head balloon even more, probably meaning I was wrapping too tight.

No edema, no injury, and good results from a relatively short routine.

I don’t think this would be possible without the water pump.

Thoughts?

My reflections on this topic

Firstly most of this topic is not really about physics, probably more about Penis physiology.
The main physics points that come to mind in relation to water vs air pumping are
1. water is essentially an incompressible fluid when compared to air so when you are pumping at say 10” Hg dynamically all penis tissue in contact with the water immediately feels the same vacuum level as the pump and pressure gauge. Not so true with air.

2. water pumping allows better heat transfer when pumping with warm or hot water which probably as an effect on tissue expansion or stretching.

I have been doing both water and air pumping with Mr Fantastic dynamic pumps for some time as a two stage process using a 2 1/8” cylinder with my water pump followed by a 2 1/4” cylinder with my air pump to get that bit more expansion.

I now exclusively sleeve pump with a condom covering baby powder over my glans to prevent blisters. I found if the water is too hot blisters can still form even with the condom/ baby powder.

I am currently water pumping in the range 3 - 12” Hg for up to 120 mins using warm water (not too hot) without any soreness creeping in. I then follow that up with about 30 min air pumping in the range 2 - 9” Hg using the same sleeve arrangement.
I start to feel soreness creeping in after 30 mins even when I do the air pumping at a different time.

Conclusion - water pumping is definitely gentler on my unit and allows for much longer sessions even at higher vacuums.

I would definitely recommend anyone using the Penomet Penis Pump to use their “gut feeling” and rather take it slower than faster. The lack of pressure gauge will be addressed in 2020, I’m so excited!

Hey AF,
When doing such a long session with a higher vacuum, what do you do to ensure you are getting some fresh blood to the unit?

This has been one of my bigger concerns and prevented me from going over 20 minutes with more then 5” Hg.

Thanks

Hello guys I’m new here. Haven’t even started using PE yet. I’m currently at 8x5,1”MEG. And I would like to grab an 1inch or so in girth but generally nothing in length. Is that kind of possible to do and what could I expect in gains both girth and lengthwise as I start of on the bigger side? I plan to use the infamous hydromax

AF… don’t make me post a Pres Trump comment to get a response outta you… lol.

Looking forward to your information.

I have been pumping for ten years, though I have never exceeded an hour or so under vacuum. Based on my experience, blood flow in the blood vessels is at most only marginally affected by the vacuume. Instead, it is the blood in the chambers and the interstitial fluid around the cell that generates the engorgement. Accordingly, vacuume has has only a minor effect on the health of your dick tissue.

Current. BPEL: 6:4", EG: 5.5"

DTW… no shit????
Wow, for some reason I always thought the vacuum (when over 5” Hg) had an effect (negative effect) on fresh O2 getting to the penis.

Not sure why I thought that now.

Thanks a bunch for that information, very much appreciated.

A theory that persists in time

Was reading this and through this today and was thinking even though it’s an old post it still is true.

All in all, I have a rather long experience with air pumps (broke 7 of them .. Guess that’s saying something) but the very first time I tried water after years of air pumping, the results surprised even me.
My cock never took a change for the bigger even if I pumped it for weeks at a time for the last many years but longer sessions have always left me with a mushroom around the glans due to being uncut. The foreskin tended to fill with fluid very easily and it would persist a day or two before it was reabsorbed.
What I can confirm is even using an Air-pump with water inside (can get messy) reduces this swelling.

An additional bonus is that the hot water feels way better on the shaft and the skin after a session.

The rest of the things mentioned are obviously true as well such as that the warm water inside the pump will help tissue expand and heal faster etc.

Thought I’d share this one as a quick experience for newcomers when they decide and choose their way to go
