Natural high blood pressure remedies

Natural high blood pressure remedies

Guys

All the sudden my blood pressure got on the high side so I changed my diet I went to all whole grains foods and cut out most salt and sugar. I also cut back on beef and fatty foods and I eat pretty much no more fast food and very little almost no snacks. I have lost 16 pounds and my pressure has went from high to normal high which I’m still not happy with because I always had been on the low side of pressure. I started taking more fish oil and a small dosage aspirin and I also take Kyolic garlic supplement. I do not want to go on high blood meds unless I just can’t control it naturally. I have been under a huge amount of stress of late so I know that’s not helping. What I’m looking for is home remedies like I just found a forum that swears by Apple vinegar cider so I started adding yesterday to my salad and vegetables and it don’t taste bad. So what do you guys do for high blood pressure?

I haven't failed, I've found 10,000 ways that don't work. Thomas Edison (1847-1931)

My situation is pretty similar to yours, Dino.(maybe it’s aging… :-S ) One thing I’ve been doing is a breathing technique. When you’re relaxing, or whatever that doesn’t involve aerobic activity, concentrate on very slow breathing. Take the slowest breaths that you can, focusing on breathing no more than 6 times per minute, Do this for 5 minutes or so every day and it should help. I’ve been doing this for a while and my BP is better and can breathe as few as 3 complete breath cycles per minute. I’ve been doing it enough that I’ve found that I can do it while driving etc. It’s becoming automatic.Try it. Good luck, man.

I’m exercising a pretty good amount and I also have a very active job with no sitting I’m on my feet working for 8 hours. No doubt about it exercise really does work.

Exersize, PE, chromium picolinate 1000mcg. Per day. Garlic pills. Cinnamon.Dark chocolate, Cinnamin is probably the most powerfull reaching therapuetic levels in about eight weeks, take an 1/8 of a teaspoon in your coffee three times per day.

I never heard that with cinnamon but I looked it up and it sounds pretty interesting

Exercise, low saturated fat, no refined sugars, no caffiene, no cigs, low stress.

That should pretty much take care of a high BP.

Are you sleeping well at night? I had high blood pressure once and the doctor asked if I’d been sleeping well, and I told him that I had had a case of insomnia for a couple of weeks and he said that your blood pressure is greatly affected when you’re not getting enough sleep.

Daily drink may help men's high blood pressure
Moderate alcohol use again linked to reduced chance of heart attack

WASHINGTON - Men with high blood pressure are usually advised to avoid alcohol, but U.S. and Dutch researchers said on Tuesday that a drink or two every day may reduce their chances of a heart attack.

The study of 11,000 men supports other research that shows small-to-moderate amounts of alcohol can lower the risk of heart disease, by increasing the levels of high density lipoprotein, or “good” cholesterol, and by making blood less likely to clot.

Drinkers in general have a bigger risk of high blood pressure, and heavy drinking raises the risk of early death overall, including from heart disease. But many studies have shown that moderate drinkers may be healthier.

The team at the Harvard School of Public Health, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Wageningen University in the Netherlands wanted to see if men with high blood pressure, who are generally advised not to drink, might safely enjoy a little wine, beer or spirits.

They analyzed data from 11,711 health professionals taking part in a long-term survey between 1986 and 2002.

The men who had one or two drinks a day had lower rates of fatal and nonfatal heart attacks than the others. But their overall death rate was not lower.

Don't overindulge

Men who had three drinks or more a day on average were not protected.

“Men diagnosed with hypertension probably get a lot of advice on how to change their lifestyle, physical activity and diet,” said Joline Beulens, who led the study. “This study indicates that if they drink alcohol in moderation they may not need to change their drinking habits.”

Beulens, visiting Harvard from Wageningen, said two drinks appear to be the limit — something found in other studies. “So our findings are not a license for men with hypertension to overindulge,” she added in a statement.

“Because excess alcohol intake clearly increases blood pressure, many men with hypertension are counseled not to drink, but our results suggest that may not be necessary if men drink safely and responsibly.”

Writing in Tuesday’s issue of the Annals of Internal Medicine, the researchers noted that they only studied male health care professionals, so it is not clear whether the findings apply to women or men in different occupations.

I agree about all of previous advices, but I would opt for recurring relaxation sessions and a positive mental attitude, too.

Thanks for the tips guys:) . I hardly drink at all anymore but I may start having a glass on wine at night while I surf thunders and hang weights from my dick:D . I have a hard time relaxing and I don’t sleep great because of stress and a work schedule that changes every day. I hope to have a different job soon but for the immediate future I’m stuck and can’t leave.

Hi Dino,

Many people in the US are deficient in magnesium - probably because of diet
and the over refining of foods. Magnesium is a potent vasodilator as it helps the cardiovascular muscles relax on the low portion of the heart beat cycle.
Magnesium deficits build up very slowly over time until your body hits the tipping point and you go hypertensive. There is a blood test for detecting the deficiency - most MDs look at calcium and sometimes at potassium but magnesium is just as important - and most blood chemistry tests don’t examine it so it gets overlooked unless you know to ask.

That said, most magnesium supplements you can find are almost worthless because they are nearly insoluble especially in older folks because the amount of stomach acid necessary for digestion drops over time. That is particulary true for oxides and carbonates. Same is true for calcium.

The answer is to supplement with a chelate of magnesium and there is a fairly new product out called Magnesium Malate that is very effective because of its high solubility and bio-availability. I take the Source Naturals brand and I get mine at the Vitamin Shoppe but many places carry it. Another fairly effective product is “Calm”, a magnesium citrate powder that comes as an effervescent when dissolved in water.

Be advised that this is no magic bullet - it takes time to become magnesium deficient and it takes time to overcome that deficiency. Be patient. Take the magnesium malate and the fish oil (a great combination) - in time it can do wonders for blood pressure. That’s what I take and do and before, based on blood tests, I had been chronic borderline low in magnesium even though we ate/eat organic and no junk food and have done so for years.

Hope this helps,

MrTIPS

I had a friend at work with high blood pressure. He started drinking non caffeine green tea. It lowered his high blood pressure problem substantially. Don’t drink any green tea from China though, because of environmental pollution problems there.

I understand your desire to avoid the B/P meds, if you can. But keep in mind that hypertension is a “silent” enemy, doing its bad stuff while you feel more or less normal.

Get yourself a good B/P monitor. They’re pretty inexpensive now. For a couple weeks check your B/P mornings and late afternoons. Write down what you get. In the past 1.5 yrs they’ve changed the acceptable systolic and diastolic values - what is safe is lower now than it used to be.

If you are not well within the safe zone, do consider the drugs - there are hundreds of them to choose from. If you do try medication, be specific with your doctor that you do not want anything that will effect your erectile function. There are many of them that won’t do that.

Blood pressure meds that affect erectile function

Avocet,

I have a two part question. Can you share the names of some of the blood pressure meds that are popular with doctors, but are known to negatively impact a man’s erectile function?

Then, could you perhaps list the names of some that generally don’t have a negative impact on erectile function, but are still effective for lowering blood pressure? I want to ask my physician about some changes in my meds. I take Diovan and Ziac along with Lipitor for cholesterol and a few other things besides. Things have gotten bad enough in the erectile function area that I want to ask him about stopping all my meds for a month and then slowly reintroducing one at a time of those he thinks are still necessary.

Thanks,
Don
