Soy Debate Experiment

When looking for balanced information on this, it is not good to just google “negative effects”.
I think that too much of most things can have bad consequences, but moderate intakes shouldn’t be anything to worry about. Soy is healthy food and reduces cholesterol.
Your experiment is interesting. I wonder if it will be possible to notice any change.

I’m going to give it about a month to see if I can detect any differences. I’ll let you know…

I think it does effect me, although its hard to differentiate the effects of soy vs the effects of aging.

What I can tell you is that of all the things I’ve done, https://www.crossfit.com caused the most dramatic fat loss I’ve experienced in years.

On further examination, I believe it is primarily due to the interval training aspect of it. Heres a good article to introduce you to the concept:

Fitness fast — if you can take it - Los Angeles Times

This has been floating around bodybuilding circles for years, but now its really starting to catch on…because it works where other things have failed.

My libido, while “normal,” also isn’t as raging as it used to be. I used to get hardons if the wind blew too hard. Now I have to be in the mood or I have to manually stimulate the unit. Just a theory.but I do feel fortunate to have the genes I do.

Hey, keep the avatar it inspires me.
Now about soy I read in testosterone by some doctor that I forgot his name, whatever, that soy does.. Not effect testosterone levels. I could be wrong.
Too boost your testosterone levels take 1000mg of vitamin “c” and about 50-100mg of zinc everyday.
By the way how old are you? After a certain age woody only get wooden from tactile stimulation s/a from a gorgeous chick. But I don’t know I have been around the bend going from complete erectile dysfuncion to shall I say I can pop wood just driving in my car and just merely thinking about bouncing boobs. I have to mentally shut the kingpole down. Hav’nt had that happen since I was 35. I’m now 43 years old.

Antihistamines can adversely effect wood and so does alot of those hypertension medications.

Brian, about the soy debate, I’ve been drinking it for about two weeks and my mother say’s I’m getting mushy around the middle.so I don’t know I try to avoid all estrogenics so I am going to stop the Soy milk to see if I lean up again. And even though I’ve recorded near 8” and over a couple a weeks ago I kind of shrunk back a little down to 7.65”. Perhaps that is due to Soy milk. Dis-regard my last responce to your thread.

How?

Horny Bastard

UPDATE:

Well, I’m five days into the experiment and I must say that it feels like “something” is happening. It may just be a placebo effect, but I have been having many more spontaneous erections than normal. Awakened several times last night by hardons and had one for a considerable amount of time this morning. Maybe I’m just going through some cycle. I’ll keep my eyes on this to see if the positive benefits persist. In any event, I can’t complain. I went through a grueling PE workout the other day and the positive PIs just keep flowing!

Positive PIs already?

Interesting, keep us updated brianrex.

Gone cementing - Started (2005): 7.25 NBPEL 5.7 EGMS. 5 years later (2010): 8.25 NBPEL 6.3 EGMS. 8 years later, 3 years with no PE (2013): 8.1 NBPEL 5.9 EGMS

Cut the soy out for more then a month if you can, tell us how that goes.

Wishing and hoping for the best - yup your doing it wrong.

There is a negative correlation between cholesterol lowering and testosterone levels…

I love GOLD

The future of cholesterol lowering substances may include testosterone patches, injections and creams. Most cholesterol drugs are estrogenic. There is a connection between drops in testosterone and increase in cholesterol and also spikes in insulin to control blood sugar’s that are now spiking due to sudden drops of testosterone. This is what happens in Manopause. Manopause can hit at any age.

I would have to argue against this. I doubt that reduced testosterone directly raises cholesterol, but rather has to do with increasing levels of cortisol and cardiovascular health with age. While the two events might often coexist, they are not necessarily related. Elevated testosterone levels typically raise cholesterol levels and other blood lipids.

Lowering cholesterol usually reduces testosterone directly due to cholesterol’s role as a forerunner in steroid production.

I don’t think these broad generalizations can be made about such a complex topic.

The effect of testosterone on blood lipids is not so clear. There have been studies showing cholesterol rises, and that it does not rise, but that HDL goes down and LDL goes up. Despite this T therapy has been shown in some studies to lower cardiovascular risk.

Testosterone has a beneficial effect of lowering the atherogenic partical called Lp(a).

I read an article recently about statin drugs being safe for kids, lowering cholesterol without effecting testosterone, FSH or LH.

In general, I would say that increasing or decreasing either T or cholesterol, will not be predicitve of the level of the other.
