Burn/Irritation from IR lamp

Burn/Irritation from IR lamp

Howdy all,

3 weeks ago I tried using infrared light to see if it would help my penis. I kept a 20” distance between my penis and the lamp. But my penis had some coconut oil on it. Evidently, oils can heat up and cause minor burns under IR heat. My penis got very irritated from using the lamp for around 15min. It seemed like it was a minor burn. 3 weeks later my penis is still irritated. It is itchy and stings and is painfully sensitive- it is similar to friction burns I’ve had on my penis from intense sex or masturbation sessions.

I am eager to heal so I can get started on my new PE routine. I have been applying aloe vera, coconut oil, and shea butter several times per day and it seems to be helping somewhat but my penis is still irritated. This is taking longer to heal than I figured it would.

Do you have any advice on different treatments for penis burn/irritation caused by IR lamp?

I’ve never had this happen but I’d imagine it would be like putting tanning oil on a part of the body that never gets sun in the middle of summer resulting in a sunburn. I’m sure it’ll be fine just don’t do it again. And maybe try aloe.

I’ve been applying aloe vera, shea butter, and coconut oil to my penis several times per day for the last week or so. It’s gotten slightly better. I think friction from my underwear and pants is slowing the healing.

Maybe I will try wrapping it in some kind of bandage. That might be hard to rig but I’ll try to figure something out.

Also I am going to start applying medihoney and see if that helps.

It’s been 3 weeks since the IR burn, and I’m still recovering. I’ve made some progress but I still have some healing left. Hopefully it heals soon.

How extensive was the burn? Were there any blisters? A superficial burn should have healed before 3 weeks. Just think about how long a sunburn takes to heal…

You should consider the possibility that you could be allergic or sensitive to something that you’re putting on topically. All those things you described applying are moisturizers, so there’s no shortage of other substances you could use if it’s possible that one of them is irritating the skin.

Not so sure on this one, could be an irritation but I’m worried about infection as well.

Take proper care now, you better go to the doctor.

Agreed. Three weeks and your not completely healed, it’s time to see a doctor.

It’s time to clean it with soap and water and leave it alone for a while.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

The burn was not too bad, there were no blisters. It was the worst on my glans. It turned red, dried out, became a bit more wrinkled, and hurt a bit- similar to a sunburn. Elsewhere on my penis it felt more like irritation than a burn.

Afterwards I was not too concerned about it, thinking it would heal in a few days to a week. But here I am over 3 weeks later and it is still not fully healed. I cannot masturbate or have sex comfortably because my penis is painfully sensitive. It even hurts from friction with my underwear/pants so I have to be careful about physical activity too.

I figured out that I have a sensitivity to aloe vera, it was making things worse. Good call Phil210. I also noticed that my penis got itchier when I applied the shea butter/coconut oil mixture, so I stopped applying that too.

I’m not entirely sure why it is taking so long to heal. I’m almost 100% sure it is not infected. I think the topical stuff was not helping and probably slowed healing a bit. Also I think friction with my underwear/pants has slowed healing as well.

For now I am going to stop applying things topically and just wash it with soap and water and leave it alone for a while. Hopefully it heals soon.

If leaving it alone doesn’t seem to be working, then I think I will try applying manuka honey and maybe petroleum jelly as well.

IR Contact Burn Entry 17-Day 34: Table of Contents/Final Pictures

I got a nasty burn from an IR lamp. My methods are in the link. It took 33 days or so to be healed well.

Also if you are not healed by now and you did not have a contact burn you may need a doctor. I got a second degree burn from directly touching a lamp and healed in 33 days. if you have not healed in 33 days and you were more than a foot away from the land you may have something else going on.

It’s been around 6 weeks since the burn and my penis is still not 100% healed.

It has gotten slightly better but it still flares up a lot. When it flares up it gets painfully sensitive, like a rubbed raw feeling.

I can still masturbate and have sex and get through my normal day to day activities, but I am still dealing with penis pain which sucks.

I’ve found keeping it moisturized with olive oil helps. I’ve found that applying manuka honey helps too.

Soon I am going to start wearing a protective garment over my penis, specifically a foreskin substitute. I’m
Hoping this will speed healing.

If it doesn’t get better over the next few weeks I will go to the doctor.

I got an actual burn. With flesh removed. That healed in 33 days fully. Go to a doctor now.
