I am not new to PE exactly. I learned of jelqing from an adult magazine way back in the 80’s before these new sites and info available today. I got gains from a steady practice of jelqing and rudimentary pumping ( cheap pumps with no way to measure pressure). After stumbling on this site I decided to return to daily jelqing in the shower. I am quite experienced “my” style of jelq but on thus site I learned I should jelq 3 secs/stroke. I do more like 1/1.5 secs and I do 200 to 250/day every day. Also I tend to be near flaccid while doing them or at most 30% erect.

Question:

Does the low erection level reduce the effectiveness of the jelq?

Low erection levels tend to favor length gains and higher erection levels favor girth gains.

Yes attyatlong, the low erection level at jelq time is something I ponder on. Because I view a PE workout as a “workout”, sometimes it’s difficult to get it up so I tend to do it at different levels. I’m thinking that as long as I can get it up a bit (say 1/2 way) it must be doing some good.

I never jelq at below 70% erection level.

Low erection level jelqs just don’t feel right to me.

This is an interesting question. I find that when doing dry jelq it’s very hard for me to maintain an erection, I don’t know why. I should really look at some porno or something while I’m doing it. Either way, I too was wondering if the effectiveness of the jelq is reduced if you have a low erection.

From a physiological point of view, too low an erection level will not create much pressure in the Corpus Cavernosa or Spongiosum and thus Tunica to assist expansion. Some length gains may be made from stretching of the ligaments regardless of erection level. However, a 70% erection level will enable blood to be pushed up the shaft with each jelq, creating pressure within the penis and also enables more traction, assisting in lig gains.

Much more than 80% and the hand tends to slide up the penis without creating as much ‘pressure wave’ in front of the hand, reducing effectiveness.

To maintain an absolutely constant erection level is difficult, but if you don’t let it drop below 50% or go above 80% you have a good margin of effective working level.

i was quite into PE for about 18months, but after getting some ED from over doing it i took about a year off. now i jelq for 10mins, and do a dew ulis in the shower in the morning at about 30% errect like yourself. i find i can build up a significant amount of pressure by kegeling before each jelq and jelqing slowly. its probably not as effective as doing it at higher errection levels for longer times like many other membes seem to, but im taking it slow and steady this time around. you only have one cock.

In my opinion, if one understands the way PE works, there is no erection level or situation whatsoever you could possibly not take advantage of. If it does not want to get jelqed as too flaccid, stretch it! If it is to hard jelq, clamp it or jelq it down! If you have no idea of what doing with it, take a hot wrap and think of the best sex you ever had: just do not stop you hour workout if your penis refuses a jelq session, do a different session, that’s all.

You are right buby; there are so many beneficial exercises. Sometimes it’s good to read a post on this site and just try other peoples’ ideas out of interest.

Jelqing is an all round exercise because it works length, girth and is great for penis health. Worked at lower levels length will benefit most. At the highest levels it will mostly work girth. At about 70% it will work both very effectively.

It takes a while to fine tune your personal preferred jelqing style, but is great fun to do. Try all suggestions and see what feels best for you; the more you do, the more subtle the feelings become and the better you get. There are no wrong techniques, some approaches just suit certain penises better, just like we all have our own favourite ways to masturbate that suit us best.

Thanks for the replies. If I’m hearing correctly the low erection will increase length?? If so that’s exactly what I’m going for. Since some days I do get about a 45%or greater erection I guess those will be girth days. But It’s usually approx 30%while jelqing.

Attyatlong; you would probably get marginally better length results from a slightly higher erection level, only because you could get more ‘pull’ by having more blood moving in front of your hand. But if you follow your jelqing with some lig stretching as well, the jelqing at 30% will have warmed and softened the ligs (and tunica) to get the maximum results from the stretching.

Heating, jelqing and stretching combined together in that order provide the best length gains. Two thirds of your stretching should be BTC (between the cheeks, for fast lig gains) with the rest going ‘around the clock’ in every direction to take advantage of the extra pliability in your tunica from the jelqing.
