Hi all,

I recently had a break from PE, so last week I started again with the Newbie Routine. It says I have to make 10 minutes of jelqs (two hundred 3-second strokes). When I make them I seem to do the two hundred stokes in 15-20 minutes.

What should I aim for next time I do my routine? Should I just jelq for 10 minutes, or go for the two hundred? (Remember that the Newbie Routine says that in six weeks I should do 30 minutes of jelqing)

My approach to jelqing is minutes primarily. I do not count the number of repetitions. Rather, I pay attention to every single rep, making sure I perform them effectively - seeing to the CC being sufficiently filled beforehand, going the whole length of the shaft from base to the corona, relatively slow execution. I know I’m doing it right when I can actually feel the blood being moved towards the glans.

I do the number of strokes. I sometimes get too much semi or too little blood flow for a proper jelq. So the waiting time in between strokes do happen quite regularly. This is why I count the number of strokes.

If you can consistently jelq without too much or too little erection, then go ahead with minute.

In general, I’ve gone by minutes. But paramount to time is how I “feel.” If I feel like I can keep it going for longer, I will to the best of my ability. If I feel tight, too loose, sore, etc, then I scale back or stop for the day.


2/11/11: 7.75" BPEL, 6" BSEG, 5.5" MSEG

6/4/11: 8.4" BPEL, 6.375" BSEG, 5.8" MSEG

I always went by time. Counting would be too much like regimented exercise for me.


The primary goal of PE should be to make your penis as healthy as possible in both form and function. If you do that, increased size will follow.

Get a really loud clock or metronome.

Tick, tick, tick, Stroke……

I hear there are jelq workout videos, too. The instructors are constantly grinning, displaying artificial happiness and shouting motivational truisms. Loud beats hammer away in the background, helping you to get the rhythm right.

I read on this forum maybe like 3 yrs ago it was better to go by strokes, it was explained sort of like this.

If you take 20 seconds per jelq and your jelq routine is 10 mins do you really think 30 jelqs are enough for a routine?

Not exact words (obviously) but that was pretty much the point the person was trying to make

I don’t use either method. I go based on feel. I want to feel that froth has been stimulated and a touch of fatigue is coming on. That could be ten minutes to a hour. If I’ve clamped or pumped before it’s going to be a shorter session for sure.

Interesting thoughts. What do you guys use for the jelqs? Vaseline, water, shampoo or what? I use shampoo while showering. And also, how erect should it be? Like 50-60 percent?

That sounds about right. Whereas those percentage numbers are a bit too exact, I think. First, it’s important to not jelq with a full-on erection. You know you have the proper erection level if you can feel a good, more or less well-located amount blood being displaced while jelqing. “Well-located” meaning that you feel that there is some fluid volume wandering upwards while you’re pushing. I deem my workouts successful if I have a noticeably larger flaccid afterwards (a good part of it is lymphatic fluid buildup, though).

As for my lubcricant of choice: I use sunflower oil or rape-seed oil. For more choices, do a search. For example, this would be one of the results.

I go by strokes (200), I jelq SO 50strokes then SD 50strokes then SO 50strokes then SD 50strokes, usually takes 20mins. I use Palmers Cocoa Butter.


Start - BPEL 16.9cm (6.65") - MSEG 12.4cm (4.88")

Now - BPEL 18.8cm (7.40") - MSEG 12.9cm (5.07")

LONG Term Goal - BPEL 20.5 (8.07") - MSEG 14.6 (5.74")
