A little story about girth

Just a reminder to keep this all in perspective.

I have a co-worker, we’ll call him Pete. Pete works with HIV awareness and education groups, is actively gay, and so on. Point being, he’s seen/felt a lot of weenies. He and I have talked in the past about life, religion, dick size, etc. In his office, he has ~15 jelly cocks (for proper condom use demonstration), most of which are of one particular model. There’s a few smaller length models as well. Anyway, this model is seven inches long, and until now, were unknown girth. Looking at them, they looked pretty reasonable, certainly nothing one would call a pencil dick. Just a nice, long specimen with decent girth. Anyhow, my wife has seen them. At the time, she discarded it immediately, dismissing it as being “much smaller than you, but about the same length”, which I thought was funny considering it looked pretty reasonable to my eye. Anyhow, Pete measured the girth of one of these jelly wangs today on a piece of paper. Came out at 4.25” - I was shocked. I asked him what he thought of it, and his response was that it was nicely average for girth, though he’d seen some bigger (as well as smaller), and pretty nice for length.

Then he asked what girth I was (he already knew my approximate length from previous discussions). I leaned over, scratched a mark at 5.75”, and laid the pencil down. His eyes got huge, he rolled the paper up into a tube, and just whistled. I gave him the little talk about the toilet roll tube, average girth, and was quite informational about things I’ve learned here.

Point being, if you have some girth, feel blessed. Not everybody does. And remember, your unit looks different from your vantage point than it does to anyone else seeing you. I’ve never thought of myself as being particularly large in girth, but apparently I am.

Of course, it also marks 6” girth as being pretty well huge, and thus why so many of us seek after it. Six inches girth really is something one doesn’t see every day, and it clearly makes a large difference in appearance to those not wearing the unit in question.

Would you say this guy has seen plenty enough to have a balanced opinion then? I’m just having trouble with the 4.25” as being average. Isn’t that well below what the Kinsey studies etc say? Ore the jelly cocks as soft as skin or harder?

He’s seen a bunch (as a rough number, try in the high 100s), and proclaimed it to be average in girth, certainly nothing to be disappointed with. On seeing the things, I would’ve sworn its girth to be larger than what it measured, but I double-checked the results. Perhaps it was one of those optically challenging things - just looks larger than its true size.

I’m not a big believer in size studies - there are just too many ways for things to go wrong. If you rely on self measure, the stats come back inflated. If you rely on clinical types to measure, you won’t likely get an accurate reading. And that doesn’t even take into account the method of measure, whether bone pressed or not, girth at midshaft, base, or whatever. The penis is a simple thing, but getting good measurements is apparently not. Basically all such studies are highly suspect, even for so-called “average” results. As an example, I can believe a ~6” bpel average, but not a ~6” nbpel average. There’s an inch of difference there, just by measurement type choice. A 6” nbpel would suggest roughly a 7” bpel - way out there for an average number.

I believe (only my opinion here) the nbpel average to be closer to 5 than 6, bpel to be just under six, and average girth to be in the 4.25-4.5 range. Even a girth of 5+ is pretty nicely sized. A girth of 6” really is kind of rare to encounter, particularly when measured mid shaft. That said, I’ve never considered myself large, and I fill out a Magnum very nicely - so perhaps I’m like most women and cannot estimate size.

I want to believe you so much, because when I look down I see a very average dick (it’s 7.0” bpel x 5.5” mid-G). I measure an extra imaginary inch to 8” and that does look massively big. 9” looks beyond human to me. I’ve never had a woman comment on my size either good or bad, but then again you could count the women I’ve had on both hands.

I had this same conversation this morning with Pete. I really believe that looking down at one’s own member gives us the wrong impression. It is quite a poor point of view.

My erection angle is very high, basically straight up. One our wedding night, my wife saw me facing her, standing up, for the first time. It measures much larger than it looks to me. Hence why I figured that jelly model was larger than what it was, because I already knew my own size via tape measure.

Just from experiences in mens locker rooms I would have a hard time believing the girth is that small. But then again the way we see things can be distorted.

I don’t usually laugh at very notions, but I laugh at the very notion that average girth is 4.25. Look at the pre PE girth poll, as well as the Kinsey study, as well as other penis size surveys, and listen to girls who have experienced my wang, and you will realize the silliness.

As I’ve already stated, I don’t really buy the kinsey study, though it is likely the best of a bad lot. And while I won’t go so far as to say our PE bretheren lie about size, I will say they tend to measure on the generous side (i.e., 5 1/8” is 5 1/4”, etc). Even a little fudging on size from some of us completely skews the results when a large population is involved. The information is still valuable, but only in rough form. I don’t believe it to be meant as more than rough data though, so it has value to us provided we take it with a grain of salt.

One thing that could be done to get some real numbers is to use millimeters. The measurement used needs to be more fine grained than fractions of inches or centimeters.

There’s likely some need for length to augment girth, and vice versa, though I see your point. Given the choice between 4x6 and 6x4, I think I’d be a little pissed at either. Balance is surely more important than being stacked in a single direction.

If you look at the picture from the link above, do you consider that model to look large? Small? In between?

I’m betting ~4.25 is real close to average. It doesn’t mean you have to happy about it, and it doesn’t mean you don’t have a complex about your own size, but I’d bet it is average. Trouble is, none of us want to be that guy - and all of us seem to believe women will never be satisfied with such. I believe we’re much more worried about dick size than they will ever be, at least when it comes to something other than a temporary fling. In addition, our points of view here at Thunder’s tend to be distorted, to say the least. “Average” out in the world takes a different connotation than it does here, where only the high side of average is acknowledged.

Well, when I was about 4 1/2 mid g and 4 3/4 base g I had an ex call me pencil dick. I think average is defintely more than 4 1/4 g. Surveys aren’t accurate, but they aren’t off that much either. IMHO
