Cable Clamp vs. Sea Clamp

Cable Clamp vs. Sea Clamp

I was shopping for more cable clamps, since I have busted all but one. This was the first time I noticed a product by the same maker called “Sea Clamp”.

Has anybody bought the Sea Clamp before, and can you tell me what the difference is, if any?

It looks basically exactly the same.

Maybe the white color is easier to see if you drop it in the water?

Edit 1
If they float that is.

Edit 2
The plain cable clamps do.

My bet is that the white is either resistant to UV or just plain more expensive.

The very same product made for sailing people is always more expensive.

edit: I now clicked the link and see that they are UV-resistant, and with stainless steel pins. Regardless if this is the case with the cable clamp or not, it will be used as a reason to charge more for the Sea Clamp.

I guess they would be good if you clamp in the bath. Now there’s an idea…?

Regular Cable Clamps are made of durable polymers and stainless steel pins. It doesn’t say the regular ones are UV resistant though.

Hehe, clamping in the bath… or clamping while you’re out at sea??

At least on the site that I posted, the sea clamp is the same price as the regular one. Is it the same exact thing just in white and marketed for boaters?

One thing I love about this board - everyone is a scientist in their own right

I’ve never clamped, but it struck me that maybe clamping in the bath might be an idea?

I am surprised - no, shocked - to hear that boating stuff is the same price as that for electricians.

Clamping in the bath… I wanna try that now. Only with a sea clamp of course. We’ll see how long it takes me to turn into a prune.

Be careful not to frighten your rubber ducky impuritan- he could think that thing is a fucking sea monster and have a stroke~!

I always clamped when I shower. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone. The clamps are the same thing and same price. I saw Sea Clamps at a local dealer here. I prefer the solid dark colors cause they don’t catch your eye when you have them on.

Smart marketing.

They are color coordinated with common boat canvas colors. It is a technique that will give them additional sales to people that didn’t know that they needed this item, and also make it easier with the name sea clamp to get into specialty marine dealers, and shelf space in two places at Walmart etc. (hardware, and sporting goods)

It should make them easier for us to find now.
