Some guys have used metal hose clamps with nutdrivers, or (harder to find) hose clamps that have t-handles so they can be tightened without tools.
They will flex round instead of the oval shape of the cable clamps, but they won’t break, they can be bought at any auto parts store, less fumbling to loosen them when covered with lube, and work silently. (if that’s an issue for you) Also, since they don’t have the wide ratchet section, if you have a thick fat pad they can be positioned closer to the base of your shaft.
I have some of the t-handle ones which I haven’t used because I don’t quite trust them - what if the handle broke off? I’ve been meaning to break the handle off one deliberately and see what kind of tool it would take to remove the clamp then.
note: some are true “t-handle”, some are paddle or thumbscrew shaped. All are intended to be operated without tools
note 2: I trust the nutdriver more. You need hex-head clamps for those.
note 3: I’d avoid the kind of clamps that require a flat blade screwdriver.
