This is just my opinion, so take it as you will.
First of all, I agree with 789 yet again. NOTHING IS FOR FREE and everything costs something.
All the guys having a whine about the donation threads should pull their heads in and cough up the $.

There is not a single other forum, ANYWHERE on the web, that is on this high quality that does not have blatant and annoying advertising.
The ONLY way this can continue, is if we ALL stop being so damn tight and pitch in to help.

Honestly, I can’t see why three posts at the same time on makiang donations should cause anyone here problems. Three posts in the hundreds if not thousands of other posts here is a mighty small percentage of the total postings.

Hell! On television we see adverts for items many times over, Admittely some of the truly awful can bring us out in a rash, but we accept them as part of the way of television life. If they catch our interest then we do something about it.

So I see no reason why there should be any sort of ‘ban’

Put another way Thunder reads an enormous amout of posts. Good, bad and some like mine! If Thunder can put up with all that lot. Surely we can put up with a gentle reminder at times.

Finally, Would there have been such a to-do if the three had been a couple of weeks apart. It was just co-incidence they all came together. Maybe it was a good thing the reaction ocurred, as it really brought the subject to our notice. Indeed it almost makes it four threads on donating!

OK, I just look at the email that I get from Paypal when a donation has been made and it does include a name line. The email has recently been changed by Paypal. I am assuming that the name is pulled from a Paypal member’s profile, which if I remember correctly is editable by the account holder and in no way verified. The next time I log on to Paypal I’ll see if I can edit mine.

My problem is that my country is not listed and not supported by Paypal so I don’t know how I can donate

Well it worked for me, I have wanted to donate for a long time, and I finally got off my ass, dusted of the old credit card so I could see the numbers, and put in my poor Canadian money. :p

I think if enough of us went on a monthly $1-2 dollar subscription, this place would be doing great, 1 or 2 dollars a month shouldn’t make or break you.

I tried to edit the information on the name line and could not on the Thunder’s Place account. So I guess when you are filling out an application you had better get the name the way you want it. The name is user supplied though.
