Fighting the urge to overtrain

As someone who was into PE for awhile but then put it on the backburner, I have decided to start from the newbie routine. I have this urge though to do more: jelq for an hour, stretch for an hour, even clamp. To add insult to injury, I am very eager to jelq a lot to remedy some minor ED issues. I don’t want to ruin anything though. I’ve heard “overtraining” can ruin any routine, so I ask you, what do you think? Do you think an old-rookie should start fresh or do something a bit more intense? Also, in general, what is overtraining, to a rookie and to an old timer?

I have been on PE for years on/off. Last January I started again on a routine a bit more intensive than newbie one. After 7 weeks having convinced myself that my penis would be able to take on any advanced exercise, I started clamping precisely following the manual here and after the first session, I could not do any PE exercise for a week because of very uneasy tingly feeling.

So, I would suggest you to ease your gas.

Yeah try the newbie routine and see how that feels, if you feel like you can take more, then add more. Does it feel like you are getting a good workout?

Yeah, i think im going to cool it on clamping for awhile. I’m really eager to jelq though because of ED benefits. Lately it seems i have to hold a kegel to keep it upright, and that sucks.

The greatest deterrent to growth is over training. Take for example, in a similar scenario, I used to lift weights alot and have lifted weights for years. My average starting set was 325 for 3 sets of 10 on the flat bench. I haven’t lifted in about a year. I can’t expect to just drop by the gym, rack up 325lbs and take off benching. It takes time to get back to that point. We grow, whether it’s PE or bodybuilding, when we rest. Take your time, ease back in to it. By the way, 325 would probably crush me now! LOL

I made a thread in the Main member forum called Understanding cell growth for maximum PE gains. It’s my own thoughts but it is pretty extensive and covers PE overtraining. It’s great that you are motivated, but understand that overdoing it only sets you back, sometimes less is more. Learn to be aware of positive indicators that would suggest you had a good workout. Be aware of negative indicators that suggest overtraining, and learn from it so you can avoid it in the future.

I found that over jelqing sent my EQ down a bit. In the end I cut down to 2 mins. a day. but 7 days a week. Even that was too much. I then tried 4 mins twice a week. That worked. I then managed to build up to 3 times a week on about 90 jelqs each time. Very slow jelqs. After reading sparkyx’s EQ and PI threads, I became obsessed with EQ. Even more than getting bigger. I decided to go for maximum EQ, and worry about size increases later.

If you have the time, the money, the inclination and the privacy to do so, you may wish to add pumping to your PE exercises. See Vacuum Pumping when you have ED; the short version, according to Avocet8 specifically. If you decide to get into pumping, make sure to read Vacuum Pumping 101 and Selecting Your Cylinder Size.

Jelqing and pumping are a good combination, and there is a lot of good food for thought in Miltonic24’s thread Understanding cell growth for maximum PE gains about why these exercises work well together.

Over work definitely causes penile rebellion. Nothing is more discouraging then an hour after you’ve finished an intense workout then to realize that your shorter then when you began. I’ve had this happen not only from an excessive workout but also from NoX2 or Arginine. Your body has a natural protection process so this is when we find out the hard way that “More is not Better” “Less is better” We have to kind of sneak up on our units and encourage, not demand results.

The correction after the fact is to maintain for as long as possible (days)a light continuous stretch until normalcy returns. You definitely don’t want to allow healing to take place without some form of stretch or you will set your progress back. Anytime you do enough damage to cause swelling or digression of length all the factors that the body can muster will be brought to bear at returning the unit back to original state but only tougher.

What if you wore your ADS during the healing?
