Golf Weights

Okay, what ARE are golf weights? I’ve deduced they’re ADS related, hence I’m looking for them.

Do they have anything to do with the sport of Golf? If so, what? I’ve asked a Golf playing friend, he’s never heard of them. Asked in a sports shop, they gave me funny looks (I think they sensed from my demeanour I wanted to do something to my dick with them).

Perhaps they have a different name in the UK. If anyone can be so kind as to attach a pic of some of these mystical objects I’d be very grateful.

60 seconds with the search function Klayton. Is there some reason that you are above such things and expect others to do it for you?

I’ve read those threads (took quite a while) and was asking people in the UK what they were called here, and some specifics about what they are actually used for. There is nothing wrong with having a thread where basic information is easy to find.

If every thread was wholly original there would be about two posts a year.

For the money I would just get montey’s PE weights. They are heavier and way more comfortable. I have used both and think the PE weights are a much better option. Now to answer your question. They are a weight shaped like a donut that you put on to your golf club when practicing swinging. They are like the things you see baseball players having on there bats for extra weight when they practice swing.

Strangely Klayton, golfers use them the same as PEers; well almost! They slip them over their shaft (on their golf club) to provide more weight near the head. This encourages better follow-through after hitting the ball and a more consistent flow and path to the swing - the greater the momentum the less likely the golfer is to pull the club off line.

Of course you cannot ‘wear’ your weights out on the course. They are for training purposes only. I haven’t seen them often in the UK, though I have no doubt you could get them from one of the big retailers like ‘American Golf’, or ask the Pro at your local golf course to order you some. You are very unlikely to find them in a sports shop.

I’d go for Monty’s weights as well.

If you had read those threads, you would have seen a link (in the 2nd link posted) that shows what they are used for. They are also known as golf weights here in the UK.

I detected some attitude there, so its probably best if that was dropped.

Like the other members above, I too recommend Monty’s PE weights.

Incidentally, I was passing ‘American Golf’ earlier today and went in to have a look for you. It seems they don’t stock them.

Thanks firegoat, I’ve had a look round most of the places you would think MIGHT have them. It’s a pity, with them being so cheap. There’s always the internet I suppose.
