You can cool your balls, thats what i do if some hot water heats my balls a little bit, after i end up warming my dick i just turn up the cold water and wash my balls for a few minutes.

Theres also that “balls painting” technique or something like that, basically you take something that is ice cold like literally freezed and you put it on your balls for 10-15 minutes, thats supposed to help with T levels and sperm production.

I’ve said that on so many posts, because I am a great advocate of heat to promote gains. There is no point taking any unnecessary risks, even though in the western world we probably take lots of long hot baths, use saunas and steam rooms etc.. But long duration use of an IR lamp does create a lot of heat, and it is easily mitigated against by keeping your testicles covered, which only takes a few seconds to do.

I became more concerned about the issue after noticing my TDP IR heat lamp seemed to be literally cooking my inner thighs. After a hanging session, I would have persistent blotchy redness for over 24 hours. This was after sitting within 10-18 inches of the heat lamp for as long as 6 hours at a time.

If the heat was strong enough to cause persistent redness on my thighs, I figured it may be strong enough to actually do damage to my balls rather than just sperm itself. According to the study in the first post, this may be the case.

I don’t consider myself to be particularly risk averse, but with my balls, I’m not taking chances. I think my hanging heat shield was $15 well spent. It also makes it more comfortable to sit in front of the heat lamp while hanging.

If you’re hanging, just turn the lamp back on when your penis starts to cool down too much. You don’t really need it on the whole time. I wouldn’t use an IR lamp for very extended periods of time, because you will actually raise your body heat; the blood that is circulated is heated by the lamp and then circulates around your body - if I used my lamp for 6 hours I think I’d get heatstroke! :D

Thanks again for dropping by, firegoat. I suspect you have a better understanding of collagen than most, so I value your input.

This was an unintentional exaggeration. To clarify, I often hang multiple sets within a 6-hour period of time. However, I only point the heat lamp directly at myself during a hanging set. At most, this will be 25 on / 10 off. My breaks between sets are often a bit longer (which I believe is counterproductive - an issue that I’m working to fix, but I digress). Using my heat lamp for 20-25 minute stretches of time for up to 6 hours seems to have a negligible impact on my body temperature.

What I need may not be the same as what is optimal. My understanding is with collagen, more heat is better. My goal is to apply as much heat as possible without causing unintended damage. I believe that my hanging heat shield allows me to do this.

I am focusing on so much heat because I want to keep my hanging weight as low as possible for as long as possible while still achieving fatigue. Do you think this strategy makes sense?

I’ve often recommended that guys put the back of their hand next to their penis at the same distance from the lamp, for the same amount of time. The back of the hand is more temperature sensitive than any other part. Basically, if the back of your hand is OK with the heat, your penis will be too. The penis is not inherently a very temperature sensitive organ, but it is meat, so there’s always a potential to cook it!
If you work within those guidelines, then yes, the more heat the better. And keeping the resistance as low as possible while still getting gains is optimum for continued long-term gaining.
