Morning Wood?

Is there anyone out there that does NOT have erections in the morning and yet does not have ED?

I am 34, seem to be fit erection-wise (no erection problems and I do have nocturnal erections) and yet I rarely wake up with the proverbial “diamond cutter”. By rarely I mean maybe 1-2 times a week I will wake up with an erection.

It stopped happening sometime in my late 20s, and I never thought much of it until I talked with my friends the other night and realized I was the only guy out of 6 of us that doesn’t get morning wood.

Anyone else in this boat (no morning wood yet still has a workable unit)?

YES! This is FREAKING me out!!! I have no idea what’s going on with myself and the erections. I’m going to be 31 on Saturday and I’ve never had issues with erections. I always get great erections and short refractory time between orgasms for sex and I’ve got a healthy libido, however when it comes to morning wood, I just don’t get them anymore. I’m really nervous about it. I don’t get them at night either. I’m sure of this because I’ve tried the postage stamp test where you fit .01 cent postage stamps around the girth of your penis and if you wake up in the morning and it’s broken, then that means that you’re getting nocturnal erections. I never broke my stamps.

Something strange is going on. I’m not sure why it’s happening and I’m glad that I’m not the only one that this is happening to. I used to ALWAYS wake up and have giant morning erections and until I peed, they would stand straight up. Now even if I have to pee in the morning, the thing is as floppy and flacid as can be.

Anyone have any advice for us?

If you are not overdoing any aspect of PE but keeping to your (sensible) routine, you will probably notice over time more events of morning wood.

Keep in mind, too, both of you, that nocturnal erections occur during periods of Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep. This happens after about 4 AM, most strongly. You may be sleeping through a lot of great erections. But maybe not.

If you sleep with someone who is a light sleeper, ask that person to check you out during that period.

A course of L-arginine might kick them in again. Read the threads about that in the Supplements and Men’s Sexual Health Forums.

One word: Kegels

You guys start cranking these out at like 500 per day and morning wood will be restored.

Honestly, I haven’t gotten morning wood more than a few times a month since I was like 15 or 16. No erection problems here.

Same here. I always found morning wood a nuisance anyway.

I was not getting nocturnal erections nor morning wood since before my PEing kicked off. I know that I’m not getting nocturnal erections because I stated that I was using the postage stamp test where you bond stamps around the girth and if it’s broken in the morning you know you’ve had nocturnal erections.

I’ve been doing 800 kegels a day for a little over 2 months and still no night wood/morning wood, but tons for sex and masturbation. This worries me. Also, when doing Uli’s I seem to somewhat lose the erection while in the process…strange

You know, you guys who are not waking up with woodies, our sage, Avocet, is probably on to something here. It may be that you are in the habit of waking up when you’re not in REM sleep, therefore, no dreaming, no woody. It may be this simple. Thanks, A!!

I started having problems in my early 30’s with morning wood it wasn’t has hard, but since kegels and pe they are back. It did seem to follow that when my night wood faded so did the quality of my regular erections.

I was wondering if the guys that no longer have morning wood may also indulge in happy hour every night. Alcohol messes up your sleeping patterns and REM sleep.

No, Gprent, I might have a beer or two before bed, but I wouldn’t say I “indulge”. (I read a couple beers is GOOD for you, so I think I am ok in that department.)

Everyone has different ideas and different experiences about erections in the morning. I was really just wondering if you could still be within the “normal range” and not get morning wood.

I think I will just ask my doctor.

To tell you the truth, I am not THAT worried about it. I mean, I get erections for sex, for doing my PE exersizes/whacking off, and seem to during sleep, too. So for me, maybe I am no longer built for the “AM Diamond Cutter”?

Still, I will ask my doctor about it. I have heard that it can be an early sign of diabetes, for instance. But if he says “Some people just stop getting morning erections but it isn’t necessarily a problem” then I won’t worry about it…

I just wanted to know if others are like me, and it seems at least a few are…

PS: And the thought of doing FIVE HUNDRED Kegels is too much effort for me to wake up with a boner! I am already spending over an hour a day with this PE stuff, and those kegels (I do a 50-100 or so per “session”) are a bitch…lol.

I don’t get morning wood and I don’t have ED.

I don’t drink. I never cared for it. I may have a beer or two at max per month and that’s just to be social.

Good to know that others here are having the same issue and no ED in other situations.

I have good erections for everything else, just nothing nocturnal. I am a sound sleeper and like I said, I did try the postage stamp test to make sure I wasn’t freaking out for nothing. It’s just that I remember waking up with “diamond cutter” woodies and now it’s not happening. I’m more congnizant of them when I wake up now than I ever was now that I notice they’re missing!

I’m going to ask my Dr. about it anyhow next time I’m in there.

I have erections for sex that are good
but nothing nocturnal nor morning and I don’t get spontaneous erections anymore during the daytime unless it’s provoked by touch. (This was happening PRE PE too by the way…)
