Okay, finally got back to this after some distractions/entertainment ;) . Sorry for the delay:

*************************

Thank you for choosing to participate in the Thunder’s Place PE Survey!

Please try to answer the following questions as accurately as you can. If you have no idea about the answer to a given question — if, for example, you never took a starting girth measurement — please skip the question rather than guessing wildly. Use your best judgment about what degree of guessing would be appropriate (e.g., if you remember pumping for 6 to 8 consecutive weeks at one point, “7 weeks” would be a fine answer).

It is extremely important that you answer all questions truthfully. Even if you have lied about any of these matters in your posts at Thunder’s Place, please be honest in this survey. Your individual data will not be connected to your username in the analysis process.

[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: If it's not too much hassle, you might consider including a preliminary question about whether the participant wants to take the survey using the English measurement system (inches, pounds) or the metric system the rest of the world uses (cm, kg). If this is done, answers in cm will have to be converted automatically (into the data spreadsheet) to inches. (I plan to do analyses in English measurements, since most members here use them.)]

Section I: PE Outcomes

If you never took a particular measurement, please skip the relevant question.

1. What was your bone-pressed erect length before beginning any PE? ____ inches

2. What was your erect girth (circumference, not width!), measured at midshaft, before beginning any PE? ____ inches

3. What was your erect girth, measured at your thickest point, before beginning any PE? ____ inches

4. What is your current bone-pressed erect length? ____ inches

5. What is your current erect girth, measured at midshaft? ____ inches

6. What is your current erect girth, measured at your thickest point? ____ inches

7. How has your erection quality been affected by PEing? Please note that quality is not the same as angle. A man can have rock-hard, throbbing erections that point straight down (i.e., high quality, low angle), or, conversely, soft erections that point upwards (low quality, high angle).

__ Erection quality has gotten worse from PEing.

__ Erection quality has not been affected by PEing.

__ Erection quality has improved from PEing.

[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: These should be radio buttons. The first option should be entered into the spreadsheet as “-1”, the second as “0”, and the third as “1”.]

8. How has your erection angle been affected by PEing? Please remember the aforementioned distinction between quality and angle.

__ PEing has lowered my erection angle

__ PE hasn’t affected my erection angle

__ PEing has raised my erection angle

[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: Radio buttons. The first option should be entered into the spreadsheet as “-1”, the second as “0”, and the third as “1”.]

9. Before beginning any PE, did your erection have a noticeable curve (in any direction)?

__ Yes, my pre-PE penis had some curvature.

__ No, my pre-PE penis was straight.

[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: Radio buttons. “Yes” should be coded as “1”, “No” as “0”. The following question, #10, will depend upon the participant's answer to this question.]

IF YES TO #9:

10. How has the shape of your erection been affected by PEing?

__ PEing has increased the curvature of my penis, that is, it has exaggerated the pre-existing curve or added a new curve.

__ PEing hasn’t affected my penis’s shape.

__ PEing has straightened my penis to some degree (i.e., decreased the curvature).

[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: Radio buttons. The first option should be coded as “-1”, the second as “0”, and the third as “1”.]

IF NO TO #9:

10. How has the shape of your erection been affected by PEing?

__ PEing has added some noticeable curvature to my penis.

__ PEing hasn’t affected my penis’s shape; it is still straight.

[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: Radio buttons. The first option should be coded as “-1”, the second as “0”.]

11. Has PEing darkened or otherwise changed the color of your penis to a noticeable degree?

__ Yes, PEing has noticeably changed the color of my penis.

__ No, my penis’s color has not been affected by PEing.

[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: Radio buttons. The first option should be coded as “1”, the second as “0”.]

12. How many times in your PE career have you experienced an injury severe enough to require you to majorly reduce or take a break from your PE regimen for at least 3 days? ____ times

[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: If the participant achieved gains through PE, then the program will direct him to questions 13-15.]

13. What, approximately, is the longest period, after making PE gains, that you have taken off from all PE activities? ____ weeks

14. For approximately how many weeks, prior to the beginning of the aforementioned break period, did you have the size with which you began the break? ____ weeks

15. How much did your penis size change during the aforementioned break period? If it didn’t change at all, please enter a zero (0) for each of the following questions. If you gained size, please enter a positive number (e.g., 0.7) in the appropriate blank. If you lost size, please enter a negative number (e.g., -1.3) in the appropriate blank.

Change in length: ___ inches

Change in girth: ___ inches

Xeno & Remek, please suggest ways to better probe issues of break-timing & routine-inconsistency, if you want these issues examined. I’m sorry I didn’t incorporate a lot of questions about that stuff this time around, but this revision was time-consuming & effortful enough as it was.

Also, Remek, please provide a template for what you want asked about each supplement, if you want specific sections for each supplement to show up for those who check them off.

PG-

I think the best that we can hope for with regard to breaks is to get an idea of the relative amounts of time spent in break in one’s PE career. I think the way the Survey2 questions are configured and phrased will serve this purpose well. In my fantasy Survey2, we’d be able to determine WHEN gains were made, not only how much gains were made, but I don’t think that’s a realistic goal. Unfortunate that.

I’ll read the current version critically and respond if I note anything worth mentioning, but from my read with my attention focused on break language, I’m left with a very positive impression of the structure and language of the Survey.

PG, Xeno, and others

Unfortunately, I won’t have any time to work on the survey today. Monday, Tuesday, and Wed I plan on working on the survey for quite a few hours — so we can make our deadline of Wed/Thursday.

Keep up the good work gentlemen.

OK,
The first part of the agenda today is answering your questions, PG.
After that, I will look over your new revision, and comment.

Now to the fun part ;)

Is the new first section you added also aimed at getting a bit of potentially useful data from men who don’t complete the rest of the survey? Most of the questions in it are redundant but less specific versions of questions that we later ask about their regimen. The problem, as I see it, is that answers to these new “summary” questions aren’t really going to yield much specific knowledge about what works in PEing, and they add to the length of the survey.

After another look at the first section that I created, I see where it can be revised, edited, and more to the point.

Overall, the first section needs to gather the participants PE experience — including their total time spent PEing, total break time, total injury time, etc. This is where questions regarding plateaus and injuries will go (more on this later).

Why is this relevant you ask?
Well, with the current version we only have total time per exercise. The TOTAL PE TIME, will allow us to build more ideas, thoughts, and maybe even theories on what is a good length of time for a PE session. Many guys theorize that we spend more time than needed for the gains we make. Hopefully we can build some truth/fact around this. You create better questions than I do, so help out here if you can.

Thinking about it a little further… I am curious, what do we hope to accomplish asking the total time spent per exercise? Do you think it will be relevant? And if yes, then how so?

You pinned the tail on the donkey: The first two questions were created to determine the sections that will show up for the particpant during the later PE regimen. You moved it to the PE regimen section — which I think was a good move :Thumbs up: (can anyone point me in the direction to get these smilies working?)

Good call :thumbs up: (again, my smilies are broken)

In regards to supplements
Remember the results of the last survey? It leaves the market wide open for penis enlargement pill pushers to claim their pills do work. If we don’t test for this again, and include supplements, then we will do more harm then good. True, many people here don’t use pills. But in my last survey, nearly 1/4th of the people claimed to using them.

Still not convinced they are worth studying? Many men claim supplements help with gains. Heck, there is even a supplements forum here. Do a search for “l arginine” on this site — over 18 pages of threads will pop up, which is parallel to the number of “clamping” threads.

I am sure that we will gather a big enough group to formulate an idea if supplements, and pills work or not.

I suggest adding a supplement section. It is likely that the majority of members will not participate in this section, because the majority of members don’t most likely don’t take supplements. However, the members that do take supplements would be worthy recording their results, and comparing it to the group that does not. This section won’t be big, only a few questions in regards to the supplements the user has taken.

Para, you said you didn't know half of those supplements. Understandable, a lot of people don’t. In fact, I just learned of them within the past few months… I am still trying to learn how to pronounce a few of them ;) But, the fact is, many people do take supplements. This is why we have a supplement forum.

Now my question to you is, how do you guys think we can gather some significant data on them?

I will post a “rough draft,” of what I think is best, and all of them men that are following along can help “shape” it.

I have to do some work :( (This smilies works?), I will be back in a bit.

At the programmer’s urging, I have decided to include some more details about the participant’s PE regimen.

So: Anyone who is reading this: Please suggest further details about each exercise that you think would be useful for analysis. For example, if you think asking the participant to specify their dominant method of stretching would be useful, list the various stretches most used.

Remek - I have to go to work and don’t have time for a lengthy response right now, but rest assured that I’m totally cool with including more detailed supp questions — as I said in the post after my draft, I just need from you a template for this. Good point about the supp forum here; you’re right that I’m probably undestimating the number of guys who think supps help PE. Also, about total time on an exercise, I happen to think that that may be the most useful figure to put into multiple regressions tracking teh contribution of various exercises to individuals’ girth or length gains. Anyhow, I certainly want to look at the strengths of the straight answers to 1, 2, and 3 (i.e., not just the additional variable of their product) in predicting outcomes for certain exercises. I’m curious whether there appears to be a minimum number of sessions per week, or number of minutes per session, required to make gains via certain exercises. Scatterplots will be helpful at the beginning to guide planned analyses

You have me convinced.
Along with this, I am also curious if there is a certain amount of minutes required per session to gain — period.

Here are two questions that someone posted earlier:
Do short term gains after hanging a short time predict long-term gains?
For hangers, which angle produces the greatest length gains?
These can be turned into a question and put in the “hangers regimen section.”

Also,
In regards to the PE regimen, we need something to gauge how important the certain exercise is to the users routine.
i.e. If a user stretches for 20 minutes a day, and gains 2 inches, we would say wow he gained two inches from manual stretching… But, what if he also hanged for two hours a day? We will need to find a control for this.

More on this in a bit.

Building more questions:

Below is the current “questions that we want answers to” that are not in the current survey. For everyone: If you have some ideas on how to turn these questions into survey questions, now is the time to come out of the wood works. Whenever you get back PG, look at the questions and see what you can come up with, and what you think we should keep. I am going to separate them into groups — making it easier.

PE experience
1. Is it time itself (hours spent pulling) that is important or is it more important to do it a certain fashion? In other words, in some way or fashion we should try to take into account which members have followed a set routine - did they gain? and which who simply keep changing all the time - did they gain?
2. Why do plateaus happen, when do they usually happen, and is there a correlation with plateaus and something else (such as many hours spent on a PE session)?

Injuries
1. How many men suffer from a PE injury.
2. Is the injury permanent?
3. How did it affect gains?
4. Does a warm-up affect the chance of injury?
5. what types of injuries are the most common?
6. is there a correlation with injuries and something else (such as taking supplements)?

Supplements — I am working on this now.
1. Do supplements affect gains? (Supplements to be considered L-arginine - Viagra/Cialis/generics - Tongkat Ali) 16. Does PE affect the strength and longevity of erections?

PE REGIMEN
1. For hangers: Do short term gains after hanging a short time predict long-term gains?
2. Is LOT a predictor of length gains?
3. For hangers, which angle produces the greatest length gains?
4. What’s more important, time or intensity?
5. Which combination of exercises is most effective?

Other
1. Does jelqing help BPEL catch up with BPFSL?
2. Does exercising the penis lead to changed “level of erection?” If yes, how noticeable was the change? Would the PEer do it all over again, knowing it changed his erection?
3. Is there a correlation between the men who are “hard gainers” in the gym and the men who are “hard gainers” in PE?
4. Prior to PE, some men are “growers” and some men are “showers” in the flaccid state. Which of these men make better length and or girth gains?
5. After doing PE for a for a period of time, some “growers” become “showers” in the flaccid state. Do these men make better length and or girth gains?

I think this is a good question, of course short and long will need to be defined, but I think it would also be good, if possible, to be able to reference what angle the responder is referring to when answering. I would respond differently to this question depending on what angle is being referred to (and would be frustrated, if such was not defined).

Another good question, I think, but I would have a bit of a problem with this one. I think “produced” would probably work better than “produces”, but this opens up a little can of worms in the form of the fact that some PE practitioners (like myself) subscribe to various theories and hypotheses that lead them to do things such as working low angles first (for high rate of gains of limited magnitude) and then switching to upper angles (for low rate of gains of less limited magnitude). I gained “great” with lower angle hanging (0.5” over 4 months), but the well is close to dry now. Now consider this: I KNOW that the magnitude of gains from upper angle hanging will surpass that of lower angle hanging, but it’ll take something like twice the hanging time as with lower angles (according to my calculations :) ). So which angle should I consider greatest, that which has been or that which will be greatest? For your consideration, I would answer the question as currently phrased, or even with “produced” substituted, with “upper angles”, someone else with the exact same experience as mine (God Bless ‘em) might answer “lower angles”. We don’t want that to happen.

I’m sorry I can’t offer more in the way of fixes…but you guys are better at that than I.

__ Yohimbe
__ Horny Goat Weed
__ Tongkat Ali
__ Tribulus Terrestris
__ Maca
__ Viagra, Levitra, or Cialis (or their generic equivalents)
__ “Penis Enlargement Pills”
__ Other
__ None
[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: These should be checkboxes. The following supplement sections should be presented according to what the participant checks off in response to this first question. If “None,” skip to next section]

[X = L-Arginine, Yohimbe, Horny Goat Weed, Tongkat Ali, Tribulus Terrestris, and Maca]

1. For approximately how many weeks total did you consume X during active PE? ___ weeks
2. On the days you consumed X, on average, how many milligrams did you take? ___ mg
3. On average, how many days per week did you take X when it was part of your diet? ___ days.
4. During active PE, how often was your routine preceded by taking X?
__ Always or almost always — 90% of the time or more
__ Usually — approximately 75% of the time
__ Sometimes -– approximately 50% of the time
__ Occasionally — approximately 25% of the time
__ Rarely or never — 10% percent of the time or less
[i][NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: Radio buttons. Code the first answer as 95, the second as 75, the third as 50, the fourth as 25, and the fifth as 5.]

Xeno,
Very good points. Thank-you. I am designing a survey question to fit this “PE question” right now.
