Regarding chem peels, tretinion & hydroquinone..
Key Factor to not only mitigate peel risk, ie further discoloration post chemical peel but also to get the most out of an at-home peel:
-Incredibly helpful prior to TCA peel is to begin using retin-A/ (Tretitinion ) for a few weeks on shaft as well as mild hydroquinone cream. This is recommended by all peel users who are prone to hyperpigmentation. This prepares the skin to take peel much better.
-My TCA peels have been painful, seriously painful but they work! I highly recommend buying some tattoo numbing cream to help with pain users
-More peel tips: A mistake I see some making is not evenly applying a full peel resulting in even more uneven discoloration. But you want to focus on one area? That can be done. Another key to success is instead of one layer of heavy strength TCA peel say 35%-50%, You can get the same strength of peel but much much more consistent by applying 2-3 lighter strength levels.
This is the protocol I recommend for those wanting the most effective at-home chemical peel on the higher end of strength with the most diminished risk to further hyperpigmentation as well as increased benefits.
* Ideally prior to peel use tretinoin & hydroquinone nightly (as a high percentage you can bear without excessive irritation) for a month. At least 2 weeks.
(note if you are sensitive to hydroquinone, still only doing the pre tretinoin is helpful. Also you can apply tretinoin fully and hydroquinone to spot treatments)
* One week prior to peel stop all creams- tretinoin etc as well any hyper dermabrasion, as well as shaving a couple days before for healthiest prepared skin
* Directly before the peel, apply rubbing alcohol or acetone to remove skin oils and prepare skin for a much better, & even absorption of the peel. Another key!
* Even those hesitant can do a 10% TCA Peel. Buy some 20% or 35% TCA peel and dilute with water to get a 10% concentration level. Apply a thick full coat of peel with a cotton round. TCA peels do not need to be neutralized and self neutralize in approximately 8 minutes. You may notice some white frosting. This is a good sign that the peels working but also not completely necessary (Don’t be upset if you don’t peel or frost you’ll be more prepared for next higher strength peel)
* Post-peel ideally use emu oil as a moisturizer, coconut oil also works, both antibacterial. Than lather a thick layer of petroleum jelly. Your goal post peel is be as gently as possible with skin, keeping it moisturized and covered with vaseline. The slower it peels the more even & better the results will be.
* 2 weeks after the peel resume use of Retin-A. This is what gets rid of leftover discoloration.
Note: A 10% peel is a minor test one, you may not even experiencing much peeling which is fine but means you for a higher level.
Repeat these steps 1 month after 1st peel. Depending on your sensitivities the goal is multiply layers of a 20% percent TCA peel. (multiply layers are done by waiting till the initial frosting of first layer is complete than starting another ~5 minutes. This is how you increase strength and focus on particular areas while maintaining safety and even peel.
This same safety procedure used on the face for best results for diminishing wrinkles safely.
If you don’t have a script to Retin-A luckily it can be obtained through an online prescription easily at the same site that gives out viagra script (Ro google it)
