Before you critique the questions and the wording, I want to make it clear that I am not arguing the flawlessness of the wording. I had “limited space,” due to https://www.advancedsurvey.com , and I was not always able to say what I wanted to say in a 100 percent neat fashion. Nonetheless, I am arguing the legitimacy of the questions used to analyze the survey. I believe all the questions used provided us with an assessment as accurate as any online survey can provide.

The questions that I did not find “worthy” of analyzing, I did not use. For example, questions 21-32 could be quite confusing, so they were not used at all. Question 11 was also not used, because it was missing the answer choice “More than a year.” Additionally, question 32, the last question (which is a question not related to PE) is in fact a very biased question.

I do respect your opinions very well, and I hope you respect mine. You wrote off the whole survey because it didn’t allow for all possible answer choices. This was a thing I made sure I did (or attempted to do, if I do end up being wrong). If you do see any of the questions I used in the analysis that didn’t allow for all the possible answer choices let me know: Which ones do you see as a problem? How can you see the problem affecting the results? How big of a problem do you think it is?

Question 1:
How long ago did you START using Natural Penis Enlargement techniques? (Jelqing, Stretching, Hanging, etc)… [For example, if you started using PE 2 ½ years ago your answer would be “2 - 3 years ago.” It does not matter if you did not PE continually for the 2 ½ years.

More than 3 years ago

Question 2:
Approximately, how long have you been using natural penis enlargement techniques, TOTAL? [For example, if you started PEing over three years ago, but only PE’d for a TOTAL of six months during the three years, then your answer would be “5-6 months.”]

Thefranchise, Necogy, XL, and MANY others, I do appreciate the kind words. Guys like you all are what I do this stuff for.

The survey did take A LOT of time. More than I expected — nearly two hard months. Over a month to analyze, and a few weeks to create.

I am still working on the website now, which is a huge project in itself. I know abosultely nothing about the credentials needed to make a website. Fortunatly, I have someone who is very good at making sites helping me..

You, remek, deserve a round of applause not only for working your ass off for us poor schmoes, but for taking our criticism in stride. :round of applause smilie:

XL is right about one thing, without him the survey wouldn’t exist. He, and his argumentive half, motivated me to do something on a grand scale. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it in the first place, but sometimes criticism is what gets us where we need to be.

I’m not knocking you personally, Remek, or your effort. Good job taking this on and seeing it through.

I realize setting these things up is a huge PITA. I’ll paste my response when asked a while back about creating a PE survey:

Quote
Creating a good, comprehensive survey would be a bitch. I don’t want to take it on.

Consider what we’d need to just get useful data concerning time involved. It sounds simple to ask, “How long have you been PEing?” and tack on a list of options. What about breaks, lulls, the timing of those in general as well as in relation to one’s stage in his PE career?

A more comprehensive snapshot of respondents’ PE careers would be needed. If a guy does PE for 3 months, gives it up for 2 years, then resumes for 3 months, 2 of which were only some occasional piss pulls, his PE experience is considerably different from a guy who diligently stuck with a frequent routine for 2.5 years straight. Yet, both would answer 2.5 years to the simple “how long” question.

Adding, “How much of that time has been ‘active’ PE?” wouldn’t be very useful either. A guy who PE’d for 3 months on, 3 off, 3 on, 3 off may very well have reached a different level of his potential than a guy who did 1 month on, 6 months off, 5 months on, yet both PE’d for a year with 6 months of “active” time. The difference may be important.

What is considered PEing? Is a minimal maintenance routine PE? What about sporadic sessions done once a week or month? We’d need to define the terms (such as active PE, lazy PE and maintenance) and design the questions and subquestions to get answers about these.

All this (and more) has to be thought out and designed just to gather good data about how long a guy has been doing this. Whew.

As another example of the planning needed, getting meaningful info about techniques used and at what stages would be a hassle. You’d need to break it down into time frames. Have the respondent list the primary and any secondary techniques used during each. Ideally here, along with many of the other questions, the respondent should be directed to only the questions he needs to answer based on his previous responses. In places this would end up many layers deep. If a guy has only PE’d for 3 months he doesn’t need to be presented the same huge list of timeframes for the techniques questions as someone who has PE’d for 10 years. If a guy has never pumped, he doesn’t need to see the comprehensive pumping questions. And so on.

A lot of work would be required designing this thing, not to mention getting it set up online in a way that wouldn’t confuse the participants.

Questions 7 and 9 (pre and post girth) don’t specify what is to be measured. Midshaft or the largest point? Most guys probably assumed you meant erect, though you didn’t state it.

>Question 10:
On average, how often do you do Natural PE [OR how often did you do natural PE, if you are not currently using natural Penis Enlargement techniques]?

This is one that stumped me. On average when? Over my whole PE career, including breaks and lulls or only during periods when I was actively PEing? And when I was using what method? I don’t see how you can get good data from this question.

>Question 13:
When performing your penis enlargement routine do you start with a warm-up/hot wrap/ or any form of heating of the penis?
Yes, always
Most of the time, yes
No
Rarely

Another stumper for me. When doing a hanging routine I almost always warm up. Sometimes for other methods, but often not. I don’t remember which answer I selected. None really fit because the question was too general. At various times during my PE career each would have been correct. I’m sure others are in the same boat. I don’t see how you can get good data from this.

>Question 16:
Does your penis have a curve in it that was not there before you started using natural penis enlargement?
Yes
No

A suggestion: in the future get pre and post shape and curvature. You’d get an idea how many have corrected curves while PEing.

>Question 17: Please select all answers that apply
After you began using PE did your penis discolor?

Define discolor. Temporarily from a workout? Long-lasting or permanent? Might expand this to include incidence of red spots (are they discoloration?), bruising.

>Question 19:
Within an hour after a normal PE session do you masturbate? If yes, do you ejaculate? Please select the answer that fits you best (meaning if you masturbate and ejaculate 70 percent of the time, then check “Yes, and I Ejaculate.”

I encountered the same problem with this as the warmup question. Depends on what PE method I’m using.

>Question 20:
On average, How much time do you spend on a PE session?

I really can’t answer this. Depends on what technique(s) I’m using. During some periods the average might be 15 min. Others, such as when hanging, hours.

>Question 21:
What are your main exercises use(d) to PE?

Again, when? My main exercises changed a lot over time. I’ve used everything in that list at one time or another. Some of those are alternate names for basically the same exercise.

Erect Bends = SadsakSlinkies = DLD Bends = Orange Bends
AI Stretches (Isolated stretching) ~ DLD Blasters
ULI’s = Supra Slammers

Perhaps instead of using a plethora of names you could break techniques down into simpler categories with some common names listed off to the side, off the top of my head:

manual stretching
jelqing
one-handed squeezing (Ulis)
two-handed squeezing (Horse 440’s)
hanging
Stretcher/ADS
pumping
low-intensity clamping/wrapping
high-intensity clamping (extreme Uli)

I might have missed some, but you get the idea. This gives you fewer categories to deal with. You could add subcategories with more detail for respondents who select a major category. Also, provide a way for the respondent to select combinations of exercises, perhaps a single primary and multiple secondaries.

>Questions 23 - 31 were exactly like question 22, except instead of “Stretching,” the following terms were used: In order - Jelqing, Hanging, Pumping, Uli’s, Erect Bends, Sadsak Slinkies/ DLD Bends, HORSE440’s/Isolated Compression Squeezes, Constrictors, and Balloning/Edging.

Usually guys combine methods (doesn’t everyone sneak in at least a few jelqs?) Plus, the stage of PE a guy is in will likely affect results from any exercise. A newbie might gain 1/2” from stretching in a few months (good luck finding a guy who only stretches). That same guy, a few years down the road might not gain anything from it. You need a way of looking at the efficacy of exercises and combinations of exercises during different time periods. That would be some truly interesting info.

Overall, the main problem is some of the questions don’t account for the fact that people do different things throughout their PE careers.

Regarding correlations between pill use and gains, don’t get ahead of yourself by assuming causation. Going back to your initial post:

Quote
In summary, the data suggests masturbating and withholding ejaculation does not hurt gains, however masturbating and ejaculating does.

I disagree. The data you have (and I pointed out where I had trouble answering the masturbation question) show a correlation. Maybe old guys gain the best and they aren’t as apt to blow a load after a session? Who knows. Your results do not indicate that ejaculation has any affect on PE. Maybe investigate your premise further in the next study. BTW, next time include age. It would be interesting to see if older, younger or somewhere in the middle gain the most - oh, and at what stages in their programs. :)

Quote
10. Does it matter how much time I spend on a PE session?
According to the results, your penis will expand and grow according to how much time you put into a PE session. The more time spent exercising the penis, the more it will grow.

This is another case of making connections that may not exist. The session time question was impossible for me to answer accurately (and I’m sure many others). You probably don’t have solid data there to begin with. Beyond that, what about other potential factors? What if the people currently doing longer sessions previously gained well from shorter sessions? Sounds like another thing to check out on the next survey.

Quote
11. Do Penis Enlargement pills help?
The people who use penis enlargement pills combined with exercises gained 43 percent more cubic inches than those who do not, which suggests that penis enlargement pills do help gains.

This is another presumption of cause and effect. The data don’t suggest what you’re suggesting they suggest. :) They merely show a correlation. What if the better gainers have simply tried more things, including pills? Seems like a logical possibility to me.

Oh my. I definetly have a reply coming. You my friend are very articulate, and very persuasive. But that is another matter at hand.

I must go to sleep. I lost all writing and thinking capabilities about four or five hours ago. But rest assured, I will be back tommorrow.

We should never take anything for granted. PE is where body building was in its’ infancy and it will change with time in ways we can’t possibly imagine. This type of study is important and your results are useful because you have provided us with data that may contradict some of our conclusions. Further analysis of what we believe to be true will lead to a deeper understanding of the mechanisms underlying penis enlargement. We will pick your study apart, deciding where it is strong and where it can be improved and the design of future studies will benefit greatly from this process.

I sincerely thank you for your hard work and dedication.

I’m sure I’ve seen some stats on the forum somewhere that suggested younger guys gain best, middle age fair worst, and older guys gain better than middle age but not as good as young. I think it was a graph that I saw. I remember thinking at the time that it appeared to correlate with the general thickening of connective tissues as we mature, then the degradation of tissues into old age.

mem,

>The weight of experience hangs heavy.

Very true, newbies should not hang heavy.

Here it is.
Gains in relation to age

Good job remek, lots of informative results. Nice to see it, thanks.

I’d still like to see something more comprehensive about this. What are the gaining patterns of older vs. younger? Are newbie gains the same? Maybe older guys’ tissues stop responding to PE quicker than younger, or vice versa. Do some techniques work better for certain age groups? Etc.

Agreed.

The age vs gains survey shows that for some reason(s) there is an overall difference in gains for different age groups. ModestoMan and Shiver have offered up some theories for this that may apply, at least somewhat, and seem to make sense. Still opinions though.

I got the idea to start the poll once I recalled having read several times at Thunder’s that the older members were gaining best in general. I then decided to test that with a poll. The poll shows that perception was only partially accurate.

As you may have read in that thread, I’m using MSM in an attempt to alter my age cells (40s) vs gains on the chart. The MSM idea is highly speculative, of course. If we had much more definitive information, then perhaps the 30-39 hard gainers (for instance) could realise adjustments that would help toward gains. My poll just points towards an overall occurrence. It doesn’t do much of anything towards figuring out what to tweak.

An age vs gains detailed would be an excellent part of the comprehensive PE test/website that remek is undertaking. A definitive poll(s) might could be set up in some fashion here. That is unclear to me.

Sorry, but I have no faith in ‘self evaluated’ surveys. :-,

Erect: 7.125" non-pressed length x 6.125" circumference

Flaccid: 5.5"x5.5"

A wise man once said, it is much easier to criticize a book then to write one.

With that being said, I want to make it clear that I fully agree -
-The survey did not build facts, it built theories.
-It is a survey - and surveys are created to build ideas and theories. The first page of this article has the ideas and theories that the survey has built.
-In a scientific world these ideas and theories are put to the test. I will be doing this by creating another survey.
-After that, if there are similar correlations, then I will proceed one step further – conducting an experiment.

-Like I said in the beginning, I created the survey to start some empirical research on PE. I believe I have done that. That was my intentions. If at the very least this motivates someone else to build more data, then I will be satisfied.

I don’t take your criticism personal. I too am not knocking you. I like you. You help out many men on these forums, and you have done your fair share of work in the PE world. You know a lot about a lot. I wish you would have posted this: hobby - The PE Survey results!
when I asked for help here: hobby - The PE Survey results!.

Now the past is the past, and the present is the present. As long as we don’t cross the past with the future, everything will be alright.

In the future I hope you will give me your input and advice before it is too late. I am hoping to use wiki on my webpage — allowing multiple people to help build the next survey.

Now, onto the current survey - If you choose to ignore the correlations, then by all means go ahead. Your opinion is your opinion. We are both lucky enough to live in a country where we can have our own opinions. Insert Your favorite USA bumper sticker here.

However, I do think your criticism is extremely biased. And this is why:

You ignored two key words:

On average - approximately, typically, about, almost always, altogether, chiefly, commonly, conventionally, customarily, en masse, largely, mostly, normally, on average, ordinarily, overall, popularly, practically, predominantly, primarily, principally, publicly, regularly, roughly, roundly, universally, usually, widely.

An example of on average: Joe masturbated 6 times last week, and 4 times this week. On average Joe masturbated 5 times a week.

Suggest - theorize, imply, hint, indicate, offer suggestion, propos, tip off, advise, evoke, put forward, conjecture, commend.

An example of Suggest: The clouds suggest rain is coming. This does not mean rain is coming, it merely means it might rain.

In your analysis of the PE survey you ignored these two words. And this is why I think most people didn’t find a problem with answering the survey. They answered what the survey asked. If a question asked “On average, how often did you do X,” they answered in a general sense. Most people know their bodies. They know what they generally do and don’t do.

For example:

On average period. In GENERAL; Approximatly; TYPICALLY; how often did you PE. Of course it isn’t going to be an exact number. I am not looking for an exact number; surveys don’t find exact numbers - they theorize. Surveys find general answers. You know this.

Almost every question you had trouble answered asked on average. If it did not ask on average, the answer choices were made to fit “on average.”

Now, you also critiqued my analyzing. I will be completely honest, I am not an A-class survey conductor or analyzer, yet. However, I do believe I made it quite clear that the results are what the data suggests (please see my clarification of the word “suggests” above.)

The data don't suggest what you're suggesting they suggest. They merely show a correlation. What if the better gainers have simply tried more things, including pills? Seems like a logical possibility to me.

In statistics, correlation usually refers to the degree to which a relationship exists between random variables. (Quoted from Dictionary.com | Meanings and Definitions of Words at Dictionary.com)

There is a relationship between taking penis enlargement pills and more gains. This suggests (hints, theorizes, implies) that penis enlargement pills do help with gains, does it not?

I absolutely agree there could definitely be other variables. In fact, in the actual "pills analysis:" I suggest two other possible variables: 1 - the number of votes in each group, 2 - the motivation of the "yes group."

Now, my friend, you are certainly right about the erect girth. A mistake I made indeed.
However, You didn’t answer these two questions:
How can you see the problem affecting the results? How big of a problem do you think it is?
If I may suggest my opinion:
How can you see the problem affecting the results? – The results are measured in gains. Most men, if not all men, measure a certain part of their penis for girth. For the most part, I could careless about the starting stats and the post stats. What matters to me is what is in between – the gains. As long as the guy entered his pre girth and post girth using the same method – base, midshaft, head, whatever method he uses to measure his girth, then the gains will not be dramatically affected by this

Furthermore, most men measure erect girth only. I don’t think I would be going out on a limb if I claimed every man on this site that measures his girth measures it erect. I am sure you can agree.

How big of a problem do you think it is? – According to a study by the Lifestyles the average penis girth is 4.97 inches. The average starting girth for the 545 men included in the survey is 4.93 inches.
The Lifestyles average girth supports, and legitimizes the girth question. If it many men were confused with the girth question, then it probably wouldn’t be so close to the real average.

I am not saying that every question was worded the best, but I do think they got the job done.

If you cannot agree that the survey has done what I intended : taking the first step in building theories, scientific data, and a empirical start, then I will leave it at that. My father once said, you can’t win them all, and as much as I hate to admit it, he was right. However, I will make sure the next survey will be up to your standards — I promise you that.

One last thing: This isn’t directed towards you personally, because I cannot remember who said what exactly.

Many veterans and moderators claim “pills don’t work,” and “masturbation doesn’t affect gains.” In their advice, they pass their beliefs off as “the truth.”

Where is the evidence? What if everyone is wrong? What if they do affect gains? At the very least, I think we should stop advising people on things we aren’t sure of.
