That’s one way to go about it, but in all honesty I think we would do better by allowing certain veteran members to have more dictatorial control over certain areas of subject matter—putting things to a vote quickly deteriorates, and really, most members would be more than happy to let some of the more experienced guys determine what goes where.
Thinking more about it, if we wanted to create a knowledge base of sorts, we would need to really plan it out—broad categories, let the individual or small team SMEs (subject matter experts) figure out how to plan their sub-categories in their areas, and begin populating it with useful information. Is this something we can do with this board software? Would we need to develop another concurrent web site—that would be relatively easy to do, but then we add on a web-administering load to someone.
However, if we truly want to pursue this, especially given the great girth of knowledge contained in these boards in the minds of the posters here, it is not something to be taken lightly. It would ultimately be pretty great though.
