You’re reading a report and in parenthesis, someone abreviated example as (e.g.) and you read it as “erect girth”. At least that was my notification of a small obsession.

I met a girl once from Newcastle England. She was a lawyer specialising in privacy law, particularly the Data Protection Act. In legal circles Data Protection is usually abreviated to ‘DP’; so in her company’s brochure she is advertised as a ‘DP’ specialist!
