Bib Hanger Feedback

looker,

First, the gel is held on by the pressure of the hanger. If it is giving, then you do not have it tight enough.

Second, try hanging without the gel, maybe a little extra wrap.

Third, if you wish, I can replace the gel since it has been so short a time.

Thanks

Bib,
Thanks for your speedy reply. The gel is not only seperated from the body, but it split across the top on both sides. I always wear it pretty tight. At the end of a 20 minute set my head is getting a little cold, so I would be a little hesitant to set it even tighter.

Also, I appreciate your offer to replace the gel, but how would I actually get it on the unit. I seems to has been “poured” into it and molded. Just wondering. Thanks.

Getting cold would indicate that the wrap is too tight, or the hanger is not tight enough, slipping, and causing a noose effect. If the wrap is loose enough and the hanger tight enough, the head should not get too cold.

Yes, you would have to send it back in and I would repour it. Usually, we pour the soft plastic a couple times per week. So you would be off maybe a week or so.

I guess I have had the hanger on too loose. I know it’s not the wrap. It would be great to send it back and have the gel replaced. Can you give me the address again or should I just go to the website and get it from there? Thanks again bib.

Bib,

I have three months of hanging under my belt with a 5/32” gain. My routine is 3 - 20 minute sets four days a week. I’m extremely conservative with weight at 11lbs max.

Should I just keep on keepin’ on, or do have any suggestions?

Nick,

The question is, what are you feeling using 11 lbs? For some guys that is a lot after three months and for others it is light after three months.

Do you get fatigued, sore using 11 lbs?

Do you ever have to go down in weight because of fatigue?

Other than soreness, are there any discomfort issues with going higher?

At what angles are you hanging?

If 11 lbs gives you that worked out feeling, I would recommend staying where you are.

Also, have you tried the DLD blasters while hanging with 11 lbs?

Bib,

Do you get fatigued, sore using 11 lbs?
Yes, the last ten minutes of every set has me fatigued.

Do you ever have to go down in weight because of fatigue?
Sometimes on the third set I have to go back to 8 1/4lbs.

Other than soreness, are there any discomfort issues with going higher?
Yes, at the base, even if the hanger is placed closer to the glands.

At what angles are you hanging?
BTC exclusively.

Yes, but I just started doing them.

Nick7,

>Yes, the last ten minutes of every set has me fatigued.<

What about an hour or two after you have finished? Are you sore then? Ever sore the next day before you begin hanging again?

>Sometimes on the third set I have to go back to 8 1/4lbs.<

Is this often or seldom?

>Yes, at the base, even if the hanger is placed closer to the glands.<

Is this from stretching skin or is it the ligs barking?

Bib,

>Yes, the last ten minutes of every set has me fatigued.<

After an hour or two, yes. The next day I feel soreness only when I start hanging.

>Sometimes on the third set I have to go back to 8 1/4lbs.<

On the third set more ofter than seldom, and seldom on the second set.

>Yes, at the base, even if the hanger is placed closer to the glands.<

This sounds crazy but I think It’s both. My lightest weights are 2.75 lbs. When I attempt the jump (which is seldom) it’s from 11 to 13.75 lbs. I can’t let go of the hanger. The sensation is disomfort at the base accompanied by tremendous burn in the ligaments.

Nick,

Just my opinion but it sounds like you need to stay where you are for the time being. Everything you describe screams to me that you are doing it right and using adequate weight.

Now, when it becomes easier, and the sore feeling does not come as easily or as often, you can try going up a bit in weight.

Further, gains are funny. You can rock along with nothing for quite a bit, but those feelings tell you something is happening. Then all of a sudden one day, the ruler reveals the gains. They did not happen that one particular day, but are a result of the entire process. Every one of those weeks or months where it looked like you did not gain contributed to the process.

Stick with it. Make the worked out feelings your goal, then the gains will come. Also be sure to relax. If you are clock watching, lower the weight.

Anything else, just ask.

Lig fatigue (finally) @ 25Lbs!

Hi Bigger -

I’m finally getting lig fatigue using the Hanger at 25Lbs BTC for 3X20 (3 sets), 5 times a week. However the fatigue does not last more than 1 hour at most after the session, never into the next day. Do you think I should keep going up in weight? I know you’ve stated that hanging in the fatigued state is very good, but I’m not getting fatigued until very end of session. Should I just keep on ratcheting up the weight?
Thank you.

9soon,

First, have you had any gains yet?

How long have you been hanging to get to 25 lbs.?

How long have you been at 25?

In response to your questions:

1) Gains are 1/8” since I started using Hanger (BTC for 3 months).

2) I’ve done hanging for about two years with a method using Gaffer’s tape (but never BTC, mainly straight out and down).Really lousy method but the only one I could find. Had the lenthening surgery done about 2 and 1/2 yearsago with Dr. Rheinschild - net gain was only 1/2”. Big disapointment. Could hang up to 25 lbs comfortably.

3)It took me about 3 weeks to comfortably hang 25 lbs with Hanger.

Thanks

9soon.

9soon,

I would say stay at 25 for at least another couple weeks. If you do not do the DLD blaster while hanging, try them out. It might make that 25 seem like a lot more.

Also, the max weights are funny. You might be fine hanging at your max for a few days, thinking about going up, then all of a sudden, you can’t handle it.

Three weeks to get up to 25 is not very long. Let it ride and see what happens. If things become easier, then think about going up some.

Thanks Bib-

I’ll stay at 25 lbs BTC for another few weeks and also try the Blasters. I also just found out that doing a modified sit-up while hanging seems to isolate the lig area somewhat …
