Gains With 5 Hours Or Less Per Week Hanging Schedule?

I was wondering how many of you guys hang for 5 hours or less per week and have managed to make decent length gains?

I’m trying to determine whether I should switch from stretching to hanging, but time is limited. I could probably make up by doing some occasional manual stretching as well. Please let me know your schedule and gains. Thanks.

Thanks Monty. Interesting thread. I think I’m going to make a Captain’s Wench - do you recommend this? I’m a little broke now, so I may have to put off Bib’s Starter until later on.

From your thread and others it appears the crucial point is to not let three consecutive days go by without hanging (otherwise the ligs will heal and be stronger)? How about sneaking in a manual stretching if privacy doesn’t permit hanging? Would this suffice?

It’s best to only gradually increase time and/or intensity of your routine. Hanging is a lot more effective than manual stretching because you can achieve continuous tension. With that said it wouldn’t make much sense to go from e.g. 1 hour manual stretching to 5 hours of hanging. It would be overkill. You should ease into it, start with 1 or 2 low weight sessions for 10-15mins and gradually increase that to 3-4 sessions of 20mins with weight that gives you fatigue. That is IMO a good enough workout for the entire day. If you don’t overdo it you can even hang everyday.

There’s no need for manual stretching when you’re doing a hanging routine. Hanging is more effective so if you feel like doing more another hanging session would be better.

Your right on with your understanding of time lapses and healing. Actually, IMO, you wouldn’t have to worry about that if you kept yourself stretched between your sessions with some kind of ADS. I also think that depending on the individual, YOU, might heal in 48 hours rather then 60. I just wouldn’t take the chance and have to fight the consequences.
I think a Wench is a great way to go while working up to a Bib. It could take care of your needs for many months.

I think to see maximum gains you should try to do 8-10 hours a week if you can.

I’m not saying you won’t see gains, just it will take longer.
