I’ve been hanging 9lbs for a while now. I can do 3 sets easily for 20 mins. I want to move up to 10lbs however I cannot do 20 minutes. The max I could do is 10-12 minutes. Should I continue hanging 9lbs a bit longer or should I switch to 10lbs and gradually increase to 20minutes?

What kind of hanging device are you using? For comfort in the 10 lb range and longer hang times perhaps you can consider a vacuum-hanger.

What’s your method of hanging? If you’re not using a fulcrum, maybe add one instead of a pound.

I’m with REAL on this. A fulcrum can really step up the intensity at low weight. Plus you might see some added gains because you will be stretching the tunica. I myself hover around 10-15 pounds depending on the day and if I feel I need an intense workout at 10 lbs but don’t feel like stepping up the weight a fulcrum is what I use. Keep in mind though that with a fulcrum you might need to easy into it and take shorter sets at first, trust me you’ll get what I mean when you try it.

No offense, but I find it hard to believe 9 lbs. has that great of a difference from 10 lbs. I’ve used the Bib Hanger and can say that I can’t tell the difference between 9 and 10 lbs. Or 9 and 11 lbs. for that matter.

Are you sure you don’t have a sticking pulley or other problem?

You might want to review the Bib Hanger manual and Bib’s post’s. It adresses weight increases as well as angles. Based on your original question I would say yes increase the weight to 10 lbs. You might also want to vary the angle.

I’m doing BTC right now. I just don’t feel any stretch when I do 9lbs but when I do 10lbs I feel a really good stretch. I have already varied the angles to standing, sitting, and wrestler position but don’t feel the stretch.
