I think the ligaments are always going to see some strain from hanging, but we want to find the most positive grip possible on the shaft so that it gets stretched over time.
I’ve been at this almost a year and just this last couple of weeks I can say that I have experienced direct tunica stretching with the positive grip of the new tape against the wrap in conjunction with good wrapping technique and hanger placement.
With this new grip I have been able to experiment with moving the fulcrum while hanging and discovering new positions for the fulcrum to better isolate the tunica.
I was going to return to the 2” pipe as a fulcrum to replace the broom handle, but after discovering that I could move the dowel without the hanger falling or slipping, I want to explore this further.
