Fish Aquarium Vacuum Pump Assembly

Hi All,

I do apologize for posting this in the newbie forum as I am more a lurker so I don’t have my post count up to post in the pumps forum. I have landed on an extender/Pump regimen after a few years experimenting and the idea of handle-less pumping sounds great.

Through search I invariably found this thread ( $15 electric vacuum pump for anyone! ) which looks perfect! However, I’m not mechanically or technically inclined at all and I’m having trouble understanding how to convert the aquarium pump for use with a cylinder. Does anything need to reversed or pulled out or changed in any way?

A step by step process would be appreciated so much.

The very first post of the thread you linked has a step by step in pictures. If you get the same pump it will look exactly the same inside when you open it. You literally just open it up remove the valve thing, rotate it 180 and put it back

Yes, it is very easy to do. I remember finding it a little hard to get into the case, but that was no big deal. The modification inside is child’s play.
