gauge price

Where could I buy a pumping gauge and how much would it cost? My gauge is pretty worn out and had took a bad drop a couple months ago which sort of handicapped it.
It still works, but I could use a new one.

I know that those gauges are used for break jobs. I wasn’t sure about if I could go to an auto parts store and just buy one separately or if I need to buy a kit or something.
Does anybody have some specific info about costs and info about what I mentioned above. Thanks in advance.

Do a google search on vacuum gauges. They come at very reasonable prices But they have to be fixed very tightly, and they are very tightly fixed. So there is always the possibility of damaging the pump when trying to remove it.

What do you mean by it is fixed tightly? The connection to the tube from the pump?

Like Lampwick says, go buy the harbor freight brake bleeder pump. $20.00, it is a GREAT brass pump with Gauge.

Takes a while if you order online, best to go to a store if there is one near. If you can’t go, then call in your order and ask for faster shipping than what the website gives.

Pay attention to sta-kool’s message. It would be the only slightly more expensive than a gauge, and you don’t have to worry about the fixing. Bleeder pumps are not available cheaply in the UK
(of the order of $120) That’s why I didn’t mention them

On the point of fixing. If you look at the underside of the guage where it joins the pump you will see that it is screwed into the pump. This is the ‘very tight connection’. (Again I’m referring to Uk pumps, but when I looked at the American site for gauges they did have a screwed base for attatchment to the pump body. (It has to be very tight to ensure a good vacuum, and not come undone at the critical moment)

I’ve gone through two Lapdist pumps in less than four years. Gauges died twice, but were replaceable. You can order one from Amazon.com (and it’s a much sturdier gauge, too), for example.

The weak point of the pump is the flimsy clip that secures the plunger to the pump handle. It eventually pops, and — as far as I know — cannot be replaced easily. After the last one broke, I got a Lisle pump, which is very similar, but is built like a tank. Below is a link to a picture. It’s not a great photo, but you can sort of see that the plunger is attached via a large nut, which ain’t gonna pop off. All parts are field replaceable (according to the manual :-) More expensive, yes, but this should be the last one I ever buy.
