Vacuum Pressure Gauge?

I have a pump, but it doesn’t have a gauge. I feel it’s worthless without one, because I don’t want to guess. Anyone have any success adding a gauge to one?

Actually, yes. provided you know the ID of your tubing. Typically 1/4” you can buy a pair of barbed fittings and a gauge to stick into a female T and add a gauge inline. Done this many times.

BUT beware. Some gauges are not properly calibrated and will give incorrect readings.

Thanks! I just need to find one now. I figured as such, just wasn’t sure about drilling into the cylinder to make a spot to plumb into.

Don’t drill the cylinder! I am suggesting an inline setup in the vacuum line.

Cut the line, splice the T fitting in with 2 barbs. Put the gauge on the top of the T. Find the right fittings.

No drill needed.

If you go to any automotive supply store you can get a durable metal handpump with a gauge for around $25. It’s probably cheaper than buying a gauge and the fittings separately and adding them to your current setup. These are handpumps for bleeding brakes, the exact same ones you can get from vacuum pumping suppliers for much more. You don’t need clamps or adapters. Here’s one on Amazon:
