Pumping without a gauge
The question ‘how do I pump without a gauge’ seems to come up with some regularity. Here’s a routine you can use.
Keep in mind that you are working without an important piece of information when you pump without a gauge. If you’ve got a setup without a gauge, work with what you have, but do think about upgrading to a pump with a gauge when you can. It will add greatly to being able to establish a routine that is more consistent from session to session, and a routine that is more likely to avoid pumping at a higher vacuum level than you might have intended.
With all that said, here’s a routine for you.
- Before your session - shave or trim at the base of your cock to help in getting a good seal
- Start out flaccid or somewhat erect
- Choose your lubricant and apply it to your cock
- It’s OK to do some warmup before you pump, if you want to jelq or stretch
.
- Have a heat source ready - rice sock, heating pad or microwavable pad
- Enter the tube, and start applying suction until you have achieved a good solid vacuum at the base of your penis. If you can pull the cylinder away from the base of your penis and it doesn’t break free with a gentle pull, you’re there
- Increase the vacuum level a little bit; not much (this is where the gauge would come in handy) Apply the heat source to the outside of your cylinder to keep things warm during your session. You can’t rely on a sense of ‘stretch’ to know how much vacuum you’ve applied, and pain or discomfort is not a reliable sign that you’re overdoing. Overdoing can happen well before that.
- Hold that level of vacuum for five minutes. You may need to pump the pump a little from time to time as your penis expands to maintain the same level of vacuum. Again, this is where a gauge would come in handy, in knowing when to apply more vacuum.
- When five minutes is up, release the vacuum (pushing in with your finger at the base of the tube should break the suction) and exit the cylinder. Jelq or massage as you wish. You’re done for at least the next 24 to 48 hours. Watch your PIs and EQ. Watch for red spots on your cock (broken capillaries).
- In 24 to 48 hours, repeat. After you’ve done this a while, you’ll probably want to add time. Add another five minutes and see how your penis handles it, based on your PIs, EQ and any red spotting. If adding five minutes is too much, try two 3 minutes sessions instead, and work your way up. Jelq or massage between the two sets in your session.
