Vacuum Pumping when you have ED; the short version, according to Avocet8

I did 6 days on, 1 off, only because at that time I had the time and the privacy. Later I dropped back to 5 on, 2 off. If you want to do 6 on, I don’t think you need any special preparation for that, just monitor your pressure and your times in the tube. Don’t overdo either. Warm up is important.

Can you offer any solution to my lube problem (Astroglide gel), so it won’t get so squashed beyond the thickest part of the lube?
Today I bought a hand plant mister so that I could spray some water in the cylinder (water makes the more slippery) hoping it would help, but it didn’t. I still can’t seem to get enough lube to make my penis slide up more when pumping. Or is this normal?

Try this: Lube your shaft and especially your glans. Then, with your fingers, moosh as much lube as is comfortable onto the first 4 - 5 inches of the inside walls. Then slide in. That should work.

That’s my problem, I can’t reach 4 to 5 ” inside. I have very square hands with stubby fingers (middle finger in only 2-3/4” long. My flaccid penis (4.125) pumped at 2-3Hg, balloons to 5+”, or about 2+” further up the cylinder that I can reach with my fingers to lube. My penis is heavily lubed with Astroglide Gel or KY beforehand.

I have tried using a dowel with a paper towel tied to the end covered in lube in order to swab further up the cylinder, but it didn’t seem to help. I then tried spraying water to make the water soluble lube slicker, hoping my penis would push the lube up as it gained length, but that didn’t work either. The problem is that the head of my penis starts expanding about half way up and when it reaches the part that is lubed the thinnest, the head starts to double over, but the penis continues to try to enter further but can’t. This is not terribly painful, but it is uncomfortable.

Do you think I should use Vaseline instead? I hate to do it since it will be so hard to clean the cylinder.

I am just trying to help my ED, which has bothered my lately. Therefore, I am pumping low and for a short time as you directed. Not at all expanding what I probably could expand if pumping fully. What does a normal pumper do when they pump for real. No one has fingers 6, 7 or 8 inches long! How do they lube so that is slick up that far in the cylinger?

Are you using any of the erectile drugs for your ED? What I’m getting at; is it possible for you to enter the tube either erect or partially? 25 mg of V or 5 mg of L (Levitra) might get you there.* If not, feel free to pump at a higher HG such that you do get fully hard in the tube. Just try to keep your HG level just sufficient for that.

If you can go in hard, the lube you’ve coated the wall with (as far as a couple fingers can extend) will get dragged farther up the wall by your cock and that should solve the problem.

*If sex happens later, you can add more V or L in anticipation of that. You can take up to 100 mg of V or 20 mg of L in any 24 hr period.

No, I’m not using an erectile drug at this time. I have been having eye operations on and off since Feb. 2006, at which time I started to get ED problem. When I asked my Dr. about V or L, he said he did not want me to use them until after the operations. The operations are still on-going.

I’m only able to obtain about a 50 - 60% erection at this time, and probably about 75%+/- with the pump. However, I thought I read that you said that it could be done flaccid, and that this would help the ED problem. That’s why I bought the pump. Was I wrong?

Regarding the lube and pumping problem.
The instructions said to lube the flange of the cylinder for a good suction, and lube as well the inside of the cylinder. This I have done each time. But since my fingers are so short I can only reach so far up into the cylinder. As I mentioned, I have tried making a swab to try to spread the lube further up the cylinder, but it didn’t seem to work.
I have been generously lubing my penis (especially on the head) before inserting the flaccid penis into the cylinder. When I start to pump, my penis expands further than I have been able to generously lube and when it reaches the lesser lubed part, the head seems to stop, balloon, and them almost double itself over as if it wanted to get the heck out of there. I also tried to spray water inside the cylinder to make the water soluble lube slicker with hopes my penis would slide further up instead of doubling back on itself.
That’s my problem. Later today I will try to pump with a semi-hard-on to see it that helps.

Since I have had my problem, I have kept away from sex. I will ask my Dr. again about V and L. I haven’t mentioned to the Dr. that I have been pumping. I hope that it is not something that I shouldn’t be doing!

Sorry ThunderSS for doing something wrong. I did it that way so I wouldn’t have to keep scrolling up and down to give my answers.

I’m a real dumb bunny when it comes to computers and a lot of it I still don’t understand. I grew up with typewriters and used one until about 5 years ago when I finally broke down and bought a computer. I did use a computer at work for about 15 years, but I only used the company “program.” I am still learning something new every day. I must have about 15 books that I have bought, even one titled “Even a 3 year old child can do this”, but that book didn’t help either, I guess because I am no longer 3 years old!

I have read the code page, but still have not been able to figure out how to use it. Such as, italics, bold, color, underlining, etc. I have tried, but then nothing happens. I have a friend who is coming over next week to try to show me how to cut and paste, etc, etc. I hope it helps!

It’s your choice to say whether you pump or not. Attitudes are changing about pumping. My urologist encouraged me to get into it.

Have a good talk with your doctor. The erectile drugs do sometimes affect vision. If you are adjusting the ways yours works, through surgeries, you may want to wait, if he says you should.

I should have added this: It is fine to enter the tube flaccid. Lots of guys do that and get a good subsequent pump from that. I still don’t quite get how your head sort of ‘doubles over on itself.’ Can you say a little more about that?

I just finished my 4th set of 3mins at 3-4Hg and found your message.

The first 3 sets were done in a flaccid state. The 4th in a semi-erect (50-60%) after 500 jelqs (a slight change in order of my present routine). I watched what was happening in a mirror so that I could check out what was taking place all around the cylinder.

The 1st through 3rd sets I lubed myself AND the cylinder, as far up as I could. On each of these 3 sets, the same thing happened as in the past. When my penis reached the lesser lubed area it seems to just “stop.” I have marked the cylinder at 4,” 5”, & 6” so that I can tell how much is gained over time. The stoppage was at the the 5” mark each time. Then the sulcus ridge of the glans, expanded greatly and rolled up onto the head. The the frenulum seems to pull the head down towards the underside of the penis. Of course it doesn’t, but it looks like that is what it wants to do. At this point, my penis does not continue upwards in the cylinder.

On the 4th set, I tried a suggestion that was given me last night at the Thunder’s Place gathering in NYC. I lubed “only” my penis and the bass of the cylinder, but not inside the cylinder. There was no difference, since the same thing took place.

Since I am new to pumping and have never seen anyone else do it, is it normal for the head to balloon up and the sulcus ridge curl up? It seems to expand in girth more so than the shaft. I have just assumed that the penis would expand in girth and length, but never thought about the head ballooning so. I would love to have one that large, however. It looks wicked! :D

I hope this makes sense. Have I explained it so that you can tell what’s happening?

Geez Panos. ;) Quit getting so stingy with the lube. Goober that stuff all over your dick, then slather a ton of it into the first couple of inches in the tube. Get a hard on, or even a semi hard on and jack off using the tube (all in the name of science mind you) using your dick to push the lube further up in the tube.

I always liked the Wet water based formulas or J&J Baby Oil Gel, although the Gel is harder to clean out of the tube because it is oil based.

If you get a thin water based formula you can hold the tube like a glass, slightly tilted, and pour the lube into the tube and twirl it around a little.

Well, you know, I’ve found that this damn lube (Astroglide Gel and KY) is expensive! Or, maybe it is because I have had to use so blasted much of it!
And, my dick doesn’t go anywhere, or only part way where I want it to go! I hope it is not the story of my life. :mad:

I just got a PM from 2 members saying that I should use a liquid rather than a gel. He suggested olive oil, the same that Mr. Happy advised me Friday night. It makes sense and I think that is what you were getting at above. Then I can let it run around inside the cylinder instead of trying to somehow push it on the sides with a swab. If it works, I will be glad to have to work to clean out the tube! Now, why didn’t I think of that? :(

Wal-Mart has a house brand (Equate) that is under $2.00 for a 4 ounce tube. It’s much less expensive than the name brands, and works as well. I’m guessing that the large chain drugstores may also have their house brand equivalents that cost less money.

You may have to ‘mist’ with water more generously than you have been, or use a cup of water, put your fingers in the cup of water and ‘drip’ some extra water onto your gel-covered penis to thin out the consistence somewhat. Or drip the water in the palm of your hand as you’re distributing the gel.

First, again let me thank you for your past help with the pump. I was almost to the point of PMing you to see you views on lube.

Yeh, the 4oz Astroglide that I originally bought was $7.99, but today I found it at CVS for $5.49, so bought a couple. I also bought a large, 16 oz jar of petroleum jelly for $2.19, which I use for jelqing. If the former fails to do the trick I can always fall back to the PJ for pumping (but what a mess to clean up!). Unfortunately, Wal-Mart is not in NYC, but I will look for Equate when I get over to NJ. Thanks for the suggestion.

Today, I decided to use EVOO, just to see what would happen. I knew it would be hard to clean up, but what the heck if it works! And, it did, and there was no doubling back effect. All went well with that pumping, so maybe that is the answer.

I will try again with the water based lube, and as you say “mist” my cock and the cylinder more generously. I had done that with my new garden mister, but maybe not enough. I’ll try that later today on another of my pumping sets.
