Vacuum Pumping when you have ED; the short version, according to Avocet8

Hi avocet8:

I have only been on the newbie routine for 2 weeks and don’t believe that I am ready to start pumping yet, but the idea is intriguing and I am very interested. Especially since you agreed with Gut Scrambler that shorter sessions at a lower HG would be good for anyone to help encourage gains.

I am interested in doing it while flaccid, if it can even be done with the flaccid measurements I have.

Can those with smaller penises, such as mine, use a pump?
I am BPFL 3.750” (I’ve read the disputes about the “B”PFL) and FG 3.50”.
Erect I am BPEL 4.438 with a EG of 3.750”

I’ve also read about the Harborfreight Pump, which I hear is recommended, but I can’t find anything about that brand on the Internet. Noting comes up when I search the Thunder Place site. Any pump suggestions. I would want one with a gage.

Thanks for your help and for the instructions. Clear and understandable :) .

Harbor Freight Tools – Quality Tools at Discount Prices Since 1977

It’s still on sale for $16.99.

And you can pump flaccid, and you can pump with your dimensions. Check out the thread:

Thanks Lampwick:

I found that website, but never thought I would be looking for a penis pump from a Automotive and Tool store! You mean the Brake Breeder is what I am looking for? I thought that I was looking for a sex toy type place. Boy, am I ignorant! I guess with this pump a cylinder would be needed. Where do you go for that? I can’t stop laughing :)

Brake bleeders create vacuum, which is what we’re looking for when pumping; and this one comes with a gauge, which is a must. (I don’t know about brake breeders;) )

Yes, if you go this route, you would need to buy the cylinder separately, and the adapter that connects your brake bleeder to the cylinder. I own a thickwall cylinder from https://www.vacutech.com ; a good number of people here like the cylinders from L.A. Pump: Welcome to lapdist.com. Both VacuTech and L.A. Pump sell the male coupler you need, which is a pretty standard size for most cylinders. You can also buy the male coupler separately from McMaster-Carr; part number 5012K251 is $1.30 plus shipping and handling.

Thanks Lampwick:

Just before I saw your message, I found the site for Lapdist and viewed their SKU15 Deluxe Package (PSI Pump, DVD, and Cylinder) for $139.95. I sent them a message regarding sizing, because I am quite small :littleguy and their shortest cylinder is 8." I am afraid that would swallow my EL of 4-1/2"!

Of course I hope that will change for the better before I begin pumping.

I am not sure if it would be cheaper to gather all of the parts together to make a pump, or buy one already as a unit. I think I would prefer to get it all together to save time. I’m a bit lazy :( in that regard.

I will check out the other site later tonight. Thanks Lampwick for your help.

Extra length in the cylinder that you buy should not be a problem. It just means that you may need to squeeze the pump handle a couple of times more to evacuate the air that your penis is not displacing.

It is cheaper to buy the components separately, but it is easier to order everything together.

I took a look at the Lapdist web site and the Deluxe Package, and here’s how the savings compare:

The Lapdist package of pump, tubing, adapters, cylinder and DVD is $139.95 plus s/h.

The do-it-yourself package: pump (from Harbor Freight; includes tubing; $16.99 plus s/h); the rest of the items from Lapdist - cylinder ($69.99) and male coupler ($7.95) plus s/h, for a total of $94.93 plus s/h.

Based on comments I’ve read, you probably would never miss the DVD, but add $19.95 plus s/h if you really want it, for a total of $114.88 plus s/h if you buy the DVD.

But, hey, if you’ve got the $140 plus s/h and you’re ready to start with pumping, go for it! It’s better to do that, if the alternative is that you don’t start pumping because of the hassle of ordering from multiple sources.

Thanks loads, Lampwick:

I really appreciate your time and suggestions. Thanks for the info that the 8” would be okay. Boy, I would really have something to grow into :chuckle !

Lapdist, it seems, will custom the cylinder (maybe also the dia.) and I asked if they could do it for a girth of my EG 3.750” since their smallest is 1-1/2 inches. I haven’t had a reply as yet. Or, do you think the 1-1/2” would be okay?

I want it small enough in dia. So that it will NOT suck in my balls. For the time being, they are large enough! I am only interested in gaining length and girth.

I don’t think I need the DVD since there is so much info for me to use as guidance at Thunder’s Place. And, no, I don’t have a lot of money hanging around and so savings would be nice. However, not knowing what the S/H charges would be and disregarding that part, there is only about $45.00 difference between a package from Lapdist and getting all the parts separately as per your figuring. If I can get a “custom Dia.” cylinder for their $139.95 price, maybe it would be worth the extra money. What do you think?

I have read in numerous postings that a newbie should not start too early. But, then as I originally said, maybe it would be a good thing at a low pressure. If it can’t hurt me, but could help, then why not?

Again, thanks.

Based on Gprent’s excellent thread Selecting Your Cylinder Size , with an erect girth of 3.75, you would be just fine with a cylinder with an inside diameter of 1.5 inches.

If you don’t need the DVD, you could just order the Lapdist cylinder for $69.95 and the better pump (which includes hose and male adapter) for $59.95. Now you’re at $119.90 plus s/h, you have one stop shopping, and you’ve saved yourself the price of the DVD that you really don’t need anyway.

I would agree that a newbie should not start too early, but I also think that VERY low pressure (-2 in.Hg) at SHORT duration (one 5 minute session to start) could be a useful adjunct at some point during the newbie program, especially if you’re doing this in part for penile fitness, as this thread discusses. However, you MUST resist the temptation to do too much, for too long, too soon. And watch your PIs (Physiologic Indicators (PIs) to help growth!)!

Great Lampwick, I will check into it. It is always nice to save some money.

Thanks for the threads to check. You have been a great help.

Hi Lampwick:

I checked out the cylinders at lapdist.com, the one (1-1/2” x 8”) SKU1 for $69.95. As I said before, I do not want to suck in my balls (probably impossible at the 1-1/2” size and the size of my nut sack), and I understand in that case that a NON-FLARED one is best. The SKU1 looks like it is flared. Am I wrong? There seems to be no choice at lapdist for flared or non flared thick-walled one.

You mentioned that you use a thick-walled vacutech cylinder. They have a
Thick-walled, non-flared pump for $89.95. A big difference in price over the lapdist one.

If I do the following:
1) Pump and tubing from harborfreight at $16.00 +s/h (#92474-2VGA)
2) either
A) Thick-wall cylinder from vacutech (non-flared - 1/-1/2 x 9) at $89.95
Or
B) Cylinder from lapdist (does not say thick walled. Is that very important?)
1-1/2 x 8 (it looks flared?) at $69.95 (SKU1)

What do I still need? If I order the above, will I need a “male coupler?” Anything else that I would need? I really am worried about the “flared” cylinder :confused Please advise you thoughts.

Thanks again Lampwick. Have a good day.

If you get the pump and tubing from Harbor Freight, you will have to get a male coupler from somewhere, either from your cylinder source (LAPump or VacuTech) or from McMaster.

All the LAPump cylinders look like they have a flared base. I don’t see a thickwall cylinder in the LAPump lineup.

Flared versus non-flared bases are a matter of personal preference. Both work. One style may work better than the other for you. Experience will inform you on that point. I wouldn’t stress too much over that point.

Basically, you need the cylinder (which comes with a female coupler) and the pump with gauge, hose and male coupler. If your pump does not come with the right male coupler, you need to make sure you get one from somewhere.

One of the advantages to saving yourself some money when you make your first purchase is that you can put the money you saved toward your next cylinder, once you have some experience and know what you want.

Buy the LAPump cylinder for $70, the male coupler from LAPump for $8, and the pump and tubing from Harbor Freight for $16, and you’re up to $94 plus shipping and handling. You were thinking about the LAPump deluxe package for $140 plus shipping and handling, so you still have a quality package for $46 less. That’s $46 you’ve saved if the first cylinder is all you ever want or need, or $46 which puts you halfway toward buying your next cylinder. By that time, you’ll know better if you want to go with another flared base tube, or if you want to try out the more expensive thickwall tube.

Yes, I thought the lapdist cylinder was flared. The only non-flared thickwall cylinder is the vacutech.com one, which I guess is the one you have. I sent another message to lapdist regarding flared and non-flared, but no answer as yet.

Everything seems clear to me now. Thanks gain.

Wouldn’t jelqing be more effective at bringing oxygenated blood into the penis?

It’s not an either/or proposition; I think that the two techniques are complementary. Pumping pulls blood into the penis via vacuum; jelquing pushes blood into the penis via positive pressure. I do both.

A partial is just fine for this purpose. After a few months of regular workouts – REGULAR being the key take-home word here (say 5 days a week, even 6) - and you will have gone a very long way toward rejuvenating your penile vascular/nerve system.

Hi Avocet:

I have learned so much from reading your postings, and thank you for what you are doing for all of us.

With much help and advice from Lampwick, I now have my Lapdist pump. I am pumping at a low 2-3Hg (sometimes 4Hg) for 3min x 3 sessions. I usually wait 15 to 20 minutes between them with a 10min warm-up before each and a 10min warm-down/massage after each. I do not pump past the point where I feel any pain. My sessions are done usually on my PE workout days with nothing done on my off days.

In your above statement, you say “5 days a week, even 6.” I assume that this means you can pump even on OFF days, but that leaves1 to 2 days left. I am a bit confused. Before I do it on my off days, should I do any preparation beforehand, ie. stretches or jelqs, or no?

I have a problem that I sure all you pumpers can answer. I lube my cock and the end of the cylinder with Astroglide, and as far up as I can inside the cylinder. I don’t seem to be able to lube the inside far enough up to keep it lubed where my cock ends up. I even tried to do it with a makeshift swab, but it didn’t work. My cock hits a lightly lubed area, stops and balloons out (especially the head) and then it seems to almost double back on itself.

How can I get enough lube in there to do the trick. Or, am I doing something wrong? I only know about pumping from this forum.

I made a mark on the cylinder during the first session, and now I have passed that mark by almost an inch, without over pumping I might add.

Thanks for your help.
