Between your routine, 40 minutes of edging, and having sex, your dick was probably exhausted, which would explain your difficulties during your workout.
I wouldn’t totally abandon edging. I just wouldn’t do it for so long, ten minutes or so is enough. I like to edge on days when I don’t think I’ll be having sex. Otherwise, as you found out, it can affect EQ, especially when you do it for so long.
