Anecdotal evidence and conventional wisdom on this forum suggests that starting with either of the Newbie Routines is less about getting Newbie gains and more about conditioning your penis for more advanced exercises. It seems that starting off lightly - conditioning yourself slowly - increases the positive effects of said advanced exercises when you eventually do them.

This is exactly my thought process! We are literally the same size and I’ve been taking a slow ramp up approach. I just made my first post in the progress report forum as well.
