Recurring infection - only relief is after a shot of Rocephin

I believe we are dealing with this: Psychosomatic symptoms. According to him, this allows him to have better erection and libido the next day.

The problem is mental.

If he comes back, the solution is pretty simple. Go to an urologist, explain the symptoms, you will get tested accordingly to discover which bacteria you have, based on your claims that could be false. Chances are, you never had any bacteria. Still, proper tests would determine that an the right course of action. The rest is irrelevant until you determine that with certainty.

I can predict a possible scenario: Tests will come negative for all infections, you will insist you have bacteria and stay hooked up on the drug. Because the problem has been psychological all along.

Definitely not disagreeing with you man, but hear me out here - I was thinking of something else too that might be the cause of the issue.

So I’ve had a hydrocele for the past 2.5 years too. I graduated college in June 2018 and moved in with a buddy who is a big dude. We would go to the gym together and I’d push myself pretty significantly.

I have a confirmed - albeit small - inguinal hernia on my right side and I do think it is causing my right hip and pelvic region to feel tight when I try and stand up straight, and I think it’s causing my hydrocele.

Interestingly enough, I also read that people can get recurrent infections if the bladder itself gets caught in the hernia, so to speak. I’m thinking this will be my next course of action and I will probably get it repaired regardless, because I am physically active, it is only going to get worse. I could probably get away with never treating it, but after doing some research on the effects of inguinal hernias on our members, I am convinced this may have something to do with it.

Thoughts?

Have you told any doctors you had urethritis 2.5 years ago, and maybe it never got properly treated or went away like it should have? Could you have something that is staying around and not getting cured for real?

Nah, I think I’m on board with everyone else here in that it is most likely mental. That still doesn’t explain the random shooting pains I get that go out through the tip of my member though.

If it’s not the hernia (just made a reply about that above this one), I am going to try red light therapy and use my Therawand more often.

It’s not the hernia.

Your same thought process about the hernia you have to talk to a doctor and ask him his opinion. Chances are, he will tell you is very slight, not enough to cause any effect on your general health. And about any infection recurring or not, is very simple. Get tested. The test dont lie.

It’s probably not the hernia. I will say, mentally, I can get things going.

I had unprotected sex after the condom broke mid-session Friday night and today I woke up with a weird sensation - almost feels good - under my glans near the tip. Though I still I get these weird zaps and shooting aches at times though and in turn, they give me hard flaccid. Any idea what that could be? I think my urethra somehow gets inflamed because I get a little clear discharge, or it’s just the cowpers (I think that’s right) gland releasing a little bit of fluid after I get an erection, etc.. I’ve been tested multiple times in the past when I get this sensation and it comes up negative for everything.

The aches/pains are annoying though. I don’t think an infection would cause that, nor would I get symptoms this quickly.

You got to stop looking at everything under a microscope or it will drive you buts.

I agree.. But update below..

Alright so, as mentioned, I had unprotected sex on Friday night with the same girl I’ve been seeing for the past year and a half or so. The condom broke mid-session and I didn’t realize it until a minute or two after, so that pissed me off.

The weekend goes by and on Monday I wake up with a sensation in the tip of my glans, accompanied by a burning rectum and frequent urination. Sunday morning I actually had diarrhea too - another symptom that pops up like clockwork when this happens. That’s all coupled with my penis feeling overly sensitive, and this was later confirmed when I had sex that afternoon and I finished in about a minute. These are the exact symptoms I get after I have sex coming off of Rocephin. When I get treated with Rocephin, everything settles down, and my libido skyrockets (which I think is the most interesting part).

I know everyone’s saying this isn’t bacterial, but these problems all started when I had my first case of non-gonococcal urethritis back in ~March 2019. When I had that infection, my urine was cloudy and I had a green discharge that I could squeeze out of my member. I do not have any discharge now other than the clear fluid that sometimes feels like it’s coming up and out of my urethral opening, but when squeezed I can’t get anything to come out.

I get the same symptoms I had back in 2019, only now my urine isn’t cloudy and I don’t have green discharge. Everything else is the same.

I remember these symptoms coming on after I had unprotected sex with a random girl back then. She was tested at the time because I told her my scenario and her tests came back negative, as did mine (except for urethritis).

Today has been difficult because I really don’t think this is mental, and I really do think I have some sort of bacterial infection that gets suppressed with Rocephin, and it stays that way until I have sex again.

It’s like clockwork. Symptoms come on > get the shot of Rocephin and course of Doxy > everything’s great until I have unprotected sex again. I have been seeing one girl consistently and her tests are negative and she has no symptoms, though I’m starting to worry that she has some sort of undetectable bacteria or whatever that I gave her, and now I don’t have any foundation to begin from because I really like this girl and can’t just drop her in the event that she is the one giving the infection back to me. And she can’t be treated because her test results aren’t coming back with anything.

I’d like to open this up a bit.

If we could all agree that:

1) I get very serious and noticeable symptoms after sex. Tingling/slight sensation near the tip of the glans. Sunday morning I had diarrhea as well and felt the over-sensitivity immediately. Frequent urination. All day Sunday it burned when I peed as well. This was about 48 hours after I had unprotected sex that Friday. Today, it isn’t burning as much but I still feel a tingling sensation in the tip of my glans and my rectum feels tight with a slight burn. I was a bit constipated this morning when I needed to pass a bowel movement - again, another symptom that comes on like clockwork. I’ve been tested for everything under the sun when this happens and it all comes back negative (the only tests I’ve had done are urine samples and the docs have never recommended anything else).

2) I’ve been treated with Rocephin roughly 7 times in the past 3 months. Each time, the symptoms go away, my libido skyrockets and my life is great. Then I have unprotected sex (and after abstaining for a week/two weeks to let the medicine work) and everything comes back within 2-3 days.

What I’m trying to figure out:

1) Let’s say I did give my girl something. Now I’m in a situation where I’ve had sex with her untreated, so this is going to continue unless a test shows positive for her, or she does what I do at the urgent care and tells them she had an exposure with a partner. Going full psycho and putting my girl through a potentially unneeded course of antibiotics is not something I’m about to do here, but I am getting so - so - so f*cking desperate here guys.

2) Why are my tests showing negative if I’m getting very clear symptoms that happen like clockwork? If it is pelvic floor related, then why does the Rocephin work so well?

3) What bacteria could potentially be causing this and what tests should I have done aside from urine cultures (which, as mentioned, is all they’ve tested)?

Last note:
Please just try and believe what I am saying. The progress I’ve made these past two years is that I’ve now gotten to a point where I know what gives me relief, but I can’t figure out why if all my tests are coming back negative. It is not mental, as I do not become a different person after the Rocephin, and the symptoms do not come back until I have unprotected sex again.

Thanks guys

The more you use that drug the less effective it will become. Then what?

Exactly.. Idk what to do man. I’ve basically had to help myself through this entire ordeal. I’ve found something that helps and I’ve not figured out why. It is not mental - I promise you, I get very serious and noticeable physical symptoms. It happens regardless of my mental state. I had a very stressful work situation at the end of July, roughly a week or two after my 2nd or 3rd round of Rocephin and I was still horny as hell and everything was fine.

And also, what’s the answer? Wear a condom everytime? What happens when I get married and want to have kids?

What makes this so difficult is that I have no grounds to fix this logically. My tests are coming back negative, but I’m getting very noticeable physical symptoms, and it happens after I have unprotected intercourse. Every. Damn. Time. Shot of Rocephin clears it up and my guy feels great. Every. Damn. Time. Absolutely nothing else I do - or have done - gives me this relief. I’ve been to urologists, 2 pelvic floor therapists, and have bothered my GP to the point that he just calls in a round of Cefixime and Doxy because he doesn’t know what to do either, but he has only done that once.

I’ve read about a bunch of urine cultures coming back negative, despite people having symptoms, but then I read that “tests don’t lie” so am really just all in all confused.

The only other theory I have is that I could try getting a new mattress. My current mattress was bought from a startup company back in 2018 and the middle of it really doesn’t give much support, causing a good amount of anterior pelvic tilt when I sleep, but I think that’s a far-fetched theory.

I am open to basically anything aside from the general advice about anxiety, etc.. I have tried that countless times and it just doesn’t help. There has to be something physical going on here that is causing my pelvic region to tense up and become inflamed, and I think it’s getting inflamed because of some sort of bacterial infection that has made its way deep into my prostate or walls of the bladder.

When you have seen many doctors, had many tests and all come back negative the only conclusion is you are doing it to yourself and you won’t admit that. Think; every time you have unprotected sex you get an infection so every girl you’re having sex with must be full of bacteria; I don’t think so.

You’re right, I don’t think it has anything to do with the girls being infected.. But, I can’t say that because I haven’t seen a new girl on a fresh slate after being “treated” with Rocephin. I guess that’s just “bad timing”..

I also get random aches and shooting pains in my shaft when this stuff goes on. The only other thing I can think of is that I was seeing a chiropractor pretty consistently around the time of the urethritis.
That, and my rectum gets tight and I can’t pass stools as easily. I also notice that I flatulate way more often when the symptoms come on, and as I said, I had diarrhea Sunday morning. Actually felt quite nauseous for a few minutes this morning too, but it passed.

What tests could I have done that haven’t been done already? Back in 2019, I don’t think green discharge would come out of my glans if there weren’t a strain of bacteria involved (because remember, it came back negative for chlamydia and gono), so I’m sure the first round of urethritis had something to do with bacteria. The chances of that first infection being a sign of something more serious going on? I guess it’s high, seeing as I’m still experiencing symptoms post-treatment and after intercourse. Or, the girls have this mysterious bacteria that I’ve given to them as well.?

I don’t know what to do. I’m taking supplements (I’ve tried everything, Quercetin, L-Arg., Saw Palm, Omegas, multis, probiotics, cranberry juice, etc.). My PF feels fine. My rectum stings and burns a bit. I definitely had burning urination Sunday, along with burning ejaculation. Again, something is not right but I have no clear direction because everyone is telling me I’m nuts. I know my member and I’m a logical person. Things are not the way they were and this bacterial infection from 2019 is to blame.

The only question then is, how did I get it (maybe it wasn’t through sexual intercourse) and how do I fix it permanently.

You need to talk to a mental health professional.

First, you need to see a psychiatrist.

This has absolutely nothing to do with any type of infection. You are being delusional at this point, and suffering from severe paranoia. These are psychosomatic symptoms caused by your own brain. Yes, that is possible and happens often.

Theres is absolutely nothing wrong with having unprotected sex. Nothing. Zero chances of catching anything in your case. If you grabbed a prostitute on crack from the street and had unprotected sex one time, then I would be worried. if you’re dating snd average girl and she’s clean, no chance.

This is absolutely 100% with all certainty in your head. Again, you are suffering from psychiatric issues.

Even though I advised a psychiatrist, I put my money on diet. Yes, as crazy as this sound, I am convinced your psychological issues are a result of diet. I am not going to expand and elaborate on this because is a complicated topic and there is a direct connection between gut and psychological behavior, but that is where I put my money.

In the meantime, infection? Nope. STD? Nope. Something with the dick? Nope. Need Rocephin? Nope. There is absolutely no infection there. Nada. No virus, no bacteria of any kind. No parasite, nothing. Everything is completely clean. Whatever you feel, you are causing it with your brain subconsciously, and that can be fix with a couple of tweaks in your diet.

I try to workout ~2 days/week, coupled with a diet that is average. I could certainly eat more vegetables, fruits, etc. But I try to put good food in my body and drink water.

But that’s how I am now. I’ve been there, done that. I was in the best shape of my life three different times over the course of 3-4 months at different points throughout the last ~2 years and it just doesn’t help. At one point I was running almost every day and would cook food I bought from Sprouts. I had solid EQ but again, my libido was non-existent. And I got a testosterone test during it and my numbers came back at around 290 ng/dl but then I got re-tested after eating a bit more and taking it easy on the running, and my numbers came back at 560 ng/dl.. So who knows.

Or

I’m somehow mentally insane for trying to think this through even though I’m 27 and generally happy with life. This is how I spend ~40% of my time each day. Obviously, that is not healthy (and I legitimately realize that) but I am absolutely determined to fix this and I will not stop until I do. I’ve found something that works, and it just so happens that it is an antibacterial - an intramuscular injection of Rocephin at that. I’m saying that I’m trying to find a cure based on what I know, and therapy is not currently a legitimate solution based on what I know works, and what my past involves with unprotected sex and discharge/pain. What I know is that Rocephin helps. Why? I don’t know, because I haven’t found anything else that gives lasting results or something that directly impacts my libido. My tests are negative, but they’ve only tested my urine, and I’ve read on countless pages that tests with urine are often inaccurate. I asked a few posts up about what other tests I could get. However, the chances of my multiple UTI/STD tests being inaccurate? Low - I will give you that.

And if I didn’t contract NGU through sex, then how else could I have gotten it? I’ve read discharge can happen if it’s inflamed, not necessarily from an infection. Oh and as I was in the middle of typing this, I felt something come up my urethra to the tip of the glans but there’s nothing there. This happens a few times a day.

Was just researching chronic UTIs and how a biofilm can form on or around the infected area. There are a few specialists in the DC area that I’m thinking of making an appt with - it sounds all too similar to my situation.
