So I’ve noticed a lot of these supplements including Pygeum, Saw Palmetto, Stinging Nettle and others have something in common: phytosterols (sterols from plant sources). These are chemically similar to cholesterol and in fact are taken up by the body as cholesterols.
This page along with many others documents the use of beta-sitosterol containing products to treat BPH and other prostate issues. It identifies effective dosage at around 300mg which is quite a lot if it’s coming from natural sources.
Looking around online, the concentration of beta-sitosterol found in raw pygeum bark seems to vary from product to product and the highest I’ve seen is 15% beta-sitosterol content. In order to achieve the 300mg of beta-sitosterol, at least 2000mg or 2g of raw bark would need to be consumed.
I haven’t had much success with increasing cum volume using pygeum nor saw palmetto but as others have had success, I think it’s worth looking into.
Starting today, I shall be testing a product labelled “Mega Strength Beta Sitosterol”. Rather than raw herbs or extracts, I believe this product is based on soy and in 1 x tablet contains: 937mg Phytosterols comprising 375mg beta-sitosterol, 187mg Campesterol and 131mg Stigmasterol.
I have stopped all other ‘magical’ supplements including Maca and Lecithin and will be testing this alone in isolation to see if there is a difference.
