What to Get Check if You Suspect Low Testosterone Levels?

What to Get Check if You Suspect Low Testosterone Levels?

What do I need to ask the doctor to check?

What will they do to most likely help? I’m hoping not prescribe viagra or something because I’m only 22!

Would all of this this cost a grip?

I see signs of elevated estrogen levels. I’m muscular but I see signs of man boobs and ass is big(muscular but also kind of fat) I’m only 17% bodyfat so it’s not hard to notice these signs. Also I store some fat on my legs which is where women tend to carry it. Also I have to ask my father to schedule the appointment and that’s a whole other subject. I don’t want my parents in my business because I’m 22 and I live with them but I have to know what’s going on with my body. I exercise regularly and corrected my overtraining problem already. Started eating better about 2 months ago and everything. My erections still haven’t returned to normal but the are like an 8 but some days I still struggle to get hard. The ED is what worries me the most along with the low sex drive. I’m only 22 I should not be having these problems. I even went from 250lbs down to 235lbs even though I was 250lbs my abs were always visible when flexed but I was bulking at that time and now I’m cutting.

I also have to see a doctor about small spots above my forearm and I was wondering if I could just tell my father that’s what I need to go for and address my other problems while I’m there? Is that possible?

Lay off the porn. I’m assuming since you’re on this site you probably watch a good deal of it and are as obsessed with big dicks as the rest of it.

So just lay off the porn and your dick will work.

I don’t know about the body fat stuff though.

I'm a disciple of science.

Lose the fat, simple as that. Estrogen and fat goes hand in hand, they are lovers.

EDIT: 17% body fat is not only, thats over-weight in my opinion.

So when I get down to like 10% bf you think it would be a lot better? I will continue to cutting and see what happens. Hopefully that’s the problem.

If you are going to the doctor, get your blood work any way.

Yes lose fat. Yes cut back on your porn.

But get the blood work done. Then you will know for sure.

Doc will know what to test.

If not, tell him you want total testosterone, free testosterone, estradiol, thyroid function.

If you do have low testosterone, then go from there.

If you don’t have low testosterone, then you will a nice baseline lab report if you develop low test in the future. That way the doctor will know what level he needs to get you to and can adjust your dose to get you there.

Here are some of the symptoms of low test besides libido/EQ

- loss of mental clarity
- irritability
- decreased work performance
- loss of interest in life, hobbies, etc
- fatigue

My testicles failed around 2006. I was untreated for a while, because I just thought it was work burnout.

I was still able to make progress at the gym.

I was dead tired all the time, I could not learn anything new. I often said the wrong words in conversation, I would use words that sounded similar to what I was trying to say. I loved playing the guitar before. But it became way too much trouble - did not seem worth the effort to pull the guitar out, open the case, tune the guitar, find a pick, start playing. It all seemed like way too much work.

So ask for a blood checkup?

Suppose it comes up that I have low testosterone will he put me on some kind of hormone treatment?

Tell him you want your testosterone levels checked. He will probably want to do standard bloodwork too. But you need to specifically say you are concerned about your testosterone levels and explain your symptoms.

It can be treated different ways, depending on the diagnosis. Some guys are treated with HCG. others with testosterone, some with both. But like I say, worry about that when you come to it.

If you are low T, there are several treatments, all pretty expensive, but affordable if you have insurance. There are gels, patches, injections, implants, etc. It is my understanding that all will in short order shut down testosterone production by your testicles, so once you start a prolonged treatment, you are on it for life.

At 17% body fat you’ll be producing a lot of estrogen within even the best T building opportunity. NO matter what you take your bf, diet, and exercise level will depend on how your body handles test.

You’ve simply got to do something about your weight now and keep up with it until you’re at least 12%-10%. There’s a lot of ways to lose body fat and build muscle, if cutting isn’t for you right now, but it’s going to take a lot of work and a cleaner diet no matter what.

As a side note, you’re almost guaranteed to test false positive for elevated T3 and T4 if you’re nervous when they draw blood. It usually takes a few tries before you’re in the clear. And at 22 you’re not going to get put on steroids unless you’ve got serious problems and an idiot doctor. You’ve got years before test declines that much and no muscle eating disabilities so it’s not likely to be prescribed.

Yeah, I was 17% a few months ago and over 24% around May. I’m ~14% now and slowly whittling off about a pound a week while slowly increasing my lifts and eating clean.

Wow I wouldn’t want that! If that’s so I will wait until my bodyfat is around 10% and see what happens. No more test produced by my testicles and lifelong testosterone doesn’tsound to good at all.

Did you noticed a change in EQ at those different bodyfat percentages?

I been cutting for 2 months and don’t plan on being at around 10% until another 3-4 months. I been cutting slow to minimize the amount of muscle loss because I read that slower cuts can equal greater muscle retention.

There’s your problem, cutting for long periods. I would rather cut 300 cals from carbs and push it harder in the gym then over tax my CNS. There’s just so many other options for you to try like intermittent fasting, backloading, insulin diets, or nutrition timing that work so much better than running like a 120lb bombshell cardio bunny for fat loss.

Is cutting 300cals from carbs like a low carb diet? Those eat up fat as well as muscle.

Could you explain further. I don’t know much about counting carbs because I go to college and there’s no way I can count carbs along with calories AND protein. All I know is that low carb diets trims muscle along with fat. But I read one article about intermittent fasting. Is that legit?

sed, stop worrying so much, a little bit of muscle loss is to be expected when dieting and at your BF% it will take quite some time before your body starts cannibalizing on your muscle tissue. Just cut down on the carbs and up the fat and proteins, that is at least the way I do it and I tend not to over think it as it is a lifestyle choice, I don’t diet it’s just the way I choose and like to eat but at the same time I do indulge myself from time to time. Eat your carbs early in the day, little to non carbs in the afternoon and evenings. Take some BCAA’s as well to prevent muscle loss.
