Heating pads

Heating pads

I was thinking of getting an electric heating pad. Are they any good? Currently using rice sock.

This one for instance: http://www.amaz … /dp/B00006IV4N/

Sure they’re good - as long as they actually get hot. I have one with 3 heat settings, the hottest being almost hot enough to burn so it works great set at medium. I just wrap it up and hold it there.

I prefer the heating pad because I never have to explain it to anyone, it’s always reusable, isn’t messy/inconvenient like water, and doesn’t require a trip to the microwave.

One thing to consider is if you plan on using heat throughout your exercise, like during hanging. The cord tends to get in my way when I try that so an IR lamp or rice sock are more convenient in that case.

The bottom line is that heat is heat. No matter the method, you want at least 5 minutes of as much heat as you can stand before moderate discomfort prior to just about any exercise for effectiveness.

Neither are ideal. Rice sock and heat pads only generally heat the surface tissues, while not doing a stellar job of heating the deeper areas.
By far the best possible heat for your unit can be provided by:

A). an infrared lamp (specially made for application on the body - do a search on it in these forums, in particular read posts by Firegoat). PROBLEM: these are expensive and hard to come by (i had to order mine from the UK).

B). MUCH easier: submersion in warm water! Note that I did not say “a quick shower”. I said complete submersion in water. A bathtub if you have one. Some people get cups, fill them with warm water and dunk right in for 5-10 minutes. I personally have a crazy setup where I have some towels laid out, a cinderblock set on top of the towels, and a medium cooking pot that I fill with hot water. I let it cool a little while carrying it carefully to the cinderblock, then I get on all fours like a douche and I dip my junk in. Another plus is that water is dirt cheap, unlike this new heating pad you’re looking at!

Make sure the water isn’t too hot by using the back of your hand as a test first (this skin is close to the sensitivity of the penis, if not more so with regards to heat).
Water is the way to go man, You’ll thank yourself for it. Plus it feels great. SO much better than surface heating, your stretches and workouts will be more effective and you will get injured less. I used the rice sock for 4 months before I switched over, and never looked back. Plus your house smells like shit after microwaving a rice sock! lol

Got a link to the IR lamp? :)

This is my exact lamp:

Not sure if they sell directly from their website or not, but do a google search for ‘PAR38 IR Red 150W 230V E27 ES’ and I’m sure you’ll find a merchant. Might cost extra for overseas shipping and also might be in Euros (AKA expensive lol).
I screw mine into one of those cheap desk lamps from walmart, the kind that have a clamp on the base (to clamp lamp onto edge of desk) and a flexible metal neck so that you can manipulate the lamp around to almost whatever position you like (doesn’t always hold it’s position well, sometimes I have to use a free hand to hold it in place - sometimes not).

Good luck man, it’s well worth the investment. A literal night and day difference btwn this and a rice sock.

IR bulbs need to be put into a ceramic lamp fitting or at least something totally heat proof. They can melt a normal fitting.

All injuries happen from "too much", or "too much, too soon" or "doing the exercise incorrectly".

oh shit, LOL. I’ll keep an eye out, thanks Firegoat. For now it’s worked fine as I usually only use it for 10 min max at a time. If it melts, good thing the lamp was only 4 bucks, but ruining my bulb or starting a violent housefire would kinda suck.

Dropping a hot bulb on your dick would kinda suck too. :)

The description of that bulb says that it is 230V. An ordinary desk light is 120 v.

Fleshlight

Well, I live alone so I don’t need to worry about being discrete, but I find soaking a fleshlight in hot water and let it sit on my tool really warms it up, so I am going to try that. Honestly, new here so I wouldn’t mind a few tips or tricks if anyone has any. Cheers.

Arguably, the best heat effect comes from this type of lamp:

Infrared Heat Theory and Info PE

I tried to see about getting one of the lamps from the Chinese company that invented and patented the device but the shipping cost from the German distributor was prohibitive. It may not be so if you are in the UK.
