Newbie, Possible Overtraining Injury, please help

Yo guys, complete newbie here, hope you can help me with this..

After lurking on this forum for a while I decided to take up PE in very limited quantities about a month and a half ago. Jelqing was very difficult for me at first because I would always get too erect after beginning a session, so I took things easy on that end and instead focused on some basic manual stretching in different directions. These stretches were not intense at all, with minimal repetitions.

Almost instantly I experienced an increase in EQ. It felt freaking’ great, and while I didn’t measure right off the bat I might have gotten some minimal newbie gains from simple stretching alone.

As things progressed and my penis calmed down I started adding some jelqing into the mix. I was completely paranoid about injury, so I started out with a REALLY low number of jelqs, like 10 on my first day, and eventually between 20-30 a day. I was in no rush to go all out, and I know that there’s no way I would have been able to handle sessions as extensive as some of the newbie routines on the web.

In hindsight I can’t really say that I ever felt physically felt great after jelqing in the way that I did when I started stretching. Regardless, I eventually worked my way up to between 40-50 per day. About 2 weeks ago I began to notice that I was turtling pretty hard after my sessions, stretching no longer felt as good, and my EQ was just about how it always was (which was not bad), but not getting better. I decided to up the intensity of my jelqs by taking more time going up the shaft, from 2-3 sec to 4-5 sec.

About a week ago during a jelqing session I felt a popping sensation as I felt up the shaft (no noise), and my penis penis began to go soft immediately. Out of compulsion I masturbated to assure myself that I could still go at it. While it worked, it wasn’t a good idea. For the next few days my EQ was down, I was not getting morning wood and my penis felt worn out and lifeless between my legs. After about 2 or 3 days I was able to get an erection and masturbated again. Again, while there was a usable erection, things weren’t as great as they could have been, and my penis began to turtle up and retreat after I finished. By this point I had clearly been able to tell that I had overdone things in some way and needed to take time off without touching myself. After another 2 days however I was able to get a better erection than before, and I was so glad to have a normal erection that I masturbated again. I wanted to slap myself after giving in like that.

Basically it has been about a week since my initial incident and a lot of negative PIs are still present. Lack of morning wood, difficulty getting erections without a fair amount of manual stimulation, low spontaneity when I’m around beautiful women, turtling and just a weary penis. There is also purple-reddish discoloration on my glans, and a vein on the right side of my penis has gotten significantly larger and thicker from when I began jelqing (not sure if this is related).

Some things that may have contributed to this

- Lack of proper warm up (although I did all my exercises in a hot shower, I still might have been able to do more thorough heating, and I didn’t always warm up before I stretched.

- Incorrect jelqing technique: in hindsight my grip was most likely too strong, with too much pressure on the bottom of the penis. I also copied an instructional jelqing video that I saw online in which the performer jelqed OVER the glans. God why did I do that..

- Taking things up a notch too soon: even though I never had that many repetitions to begin with, I clearly must have taken things at a pace that was too fast for me.

- Psychological issues arising from anxiety concerning the injury.

Basically I’m not going to touch myself at all for at least another week. I have stopped all PE since that incident, but it seems like masturbating aggravated the negative PI’s. Needless to say, I’m pretty terrified that I have done some irreparable damage. I used to be able to masturbate every day, getting multiple erections before I started PE, and now I can’t do that. Everything points to overtraining, but I don’t know what that popping sensation was, and I feel like it’s taking me longer to heal than it should. It’s unfortunate that this is my first post here, but I know that there are a lot of knowledgeable people here that can give me some advice, or at least some relief/consolation, as I’m sure that this is no unnatural occurrance. I tried to be as thorough as possible, and I really appreciate any help.

-Thanks guys

Lay off PE and masturbation if possible, perhaps apply a hot wrap or other methods of heat during your rest period until your EQ has returned fully. To reduce the intensity of your jelqs: decrease the strength of your grip, decrease the erection % you jelq at, spend less time moving down the shaft.

Hope this helps.

Hi DB. I made a good self diagnosis I guess : overwork. I just want to ask three things:

1) are you sure the popping sensation was in the shaft, not near the base?

2) how old are you?

3) when you have an erection, if you mantain the stimulation are you able to stay erect? Or it always - I mean : always - subsides in a short span of time?

Hey drawingblanks. I’m a newbie myself so I’m sure this won’t be the reply you’re looking for. However, I feel I could relate to your situation. I had a similar occurrence while jelqing and it scared the shit out of me. I’ve never seen my junk lose an erection(actually a semi-erection) so fast. It definitely was from the anxiety. It sounds like everything is still in working order with you, so I would think it’s quite possible that your negative PI’s are attributed mostly to your increased anxiety. As for myself, everything is all good and I haven’t suffered from any irreparable damage, and hopefully the same with you.

I’ll try to describe my injury(or perceived injury) a little to see if we had the same experience. Mine felt more like a fluttering in a specific area inside the penis. I guess I could describe it as a minor popping, but more like a fluttering. I was also paranoid about doing damage to my unit, so I’m always hyper alert to what’s going on down there. Because of this, sometimes I think my paranoia notices things that are normal, but interprets them as a possible injury. Ultimately, I think that may be what happened in my case. I had a similar experience a few weeks later while jelqing which led me to question if I really suffered an injury at all. This time, it seemed as if the action of jelqing and the displacement of lubrication may have been the fluttering sensation I noticed. It’s hard to describe, but the best I can do is if you had a handful of lotion, and then made a tight fist, the lube would try to leave your hand between your fingers, and make that “gushing” sensation. Also, following both of these occurrences, I never had any pain or discoloration.

My point of this reply is not to tell you to dismiss everything as paranoia. However, in my case I’m pretty sure that was what happened. This may or may not be what has happened to you. I just know I had negative PI’s following my experiences that were caused by psychological factors relating to the anxiety of the “injury”. If nothing else, I hope this post at least offers you some consolation as I certainly know how frightening it can be to think you have injured your goods. Hopefully some vets with much more knowledge than me can be of more help.

Yeah the popping thing seems odd. Do you have really large veins that you jelq over?

For the most part I think this was a little bit of overwork and the remaining is psychological. I know (had to discover) that when I exercise both my penis and/or body I have a very slow refractory period but I can help out my body with a little bit of zinc, a multivitamin and water.

That should be ‘you’, not ‘I’, of course. :)

1) The popping sensation felt as though it was in the shaft, on the right underside of the penis close but not at the glans. I use the term popping to describe the sensation, but it might be misleading. Basically I felt as sort of localized “blip” of pain which lasted less than a second. At times there is slight discomfort in the area, but I wouldn’t say that there’s any pain.

2) I am 20. Relatively good health, workout fairly regularly and eat correctly, although I am genetically prone to diabetes and poorer heart health. Cardio is something I’ve been working on for the past several months.

3) The most recent time I masturbated I was able to maintain my erection for a good while if I stopped manual stimulation. This was once I really got going. I get half-erect or not erect at all if I am near someone I find attractive or if I am fantasizing, whereas previously I would get higher erections. Still, I guess it might also be a result of my anxiety - thinking that I HAVE to have an erection or something is wrong.

Thanks for the input so far guys.

You are fine I think. A mix of anxiety and overwork. As other have said, when you’ll resume PE use less force - less tight grip, less force when stretching, etc.. Remember, the most important factor in PE is not force, is time. Pulling with high intensity for 15 seconds is less effective than pulling mildly for 30 seconds.

There is one large vein that is oddly shaped, going up the shaft and then down for a bit and then back up again like a winding river. I didn’t really pay much attention to it before, so I don’t know if it always looked like that or if jelqing had any effect on it.

I know I have a few really large veins that wind along like a river, they kind of get pushed out of the way. Jelqing and the like does seem to pronounce veins though, which I like, kind of make my dick look mean and powerful.

This is my, unscientific opinion on jelqing; It’s the most risky PE exercise out there if done wrong. As the CC is filled decently up with blood when you start jelqing, it’s far easier to sustain serious injury to the dorsal nerve and CC (scaring). I don’t know why, but that’s what I’ve been observing.

Drawingblanks; you probably just need some time of, but I personally would recommend staying away from jelqing and keep stretching.

I don’t want to say there aren’t dangers in jelqing because there is, and there is a thread around here about those dangers. I would say though that it’s mostly dangerous to only a certain segment of people, and a segment that is really small (not unimportant mind you). Out of 140,000 members there may have been a dozen or so kind of small (someone correct me if I’m wrong here).

There are dangers in any exercise. When you first start working out you don’t do 3 sets, you do one with easily manageable weights. Same idea with PE. You start off with things your body can handle. The newbie routine (and the new newbie routine) has been recommended and is recommended for a reason.

After a while of doing PE you’ll likely want to try clamping and hanging and pumping etc and it really becomes a bit sick in the way you’ll think of how many different ways you can stretch your dick like dough; or expand it ‘till it looks like it should explode. But no, you don’t start off by climbing the highest mountain.

How would you be able to tell if you had sustained those injuries that you mentioned? Symptoms, etc? What particularly concerns me is the scarring you mentioned.

Scarring happens in tunica albuginea, not CC, I think. It happens if you torn the tunica and you would feel an hell of pain, your penis will become swollen and deformed and blue and you should go to the ER asap.

Never happened such a thing through PE to anybody, that I know.

Just thought I would post an update after a while since my incident.

Basically I took about 4 days off w/ no masturbation or PE. The thing though is that when I masturbate it seems like my penis becomes weak again. It doesn’t really turtle anymore, but it definitely gets smaller/thinner than it used to after a release.
I know that I am getting at least some erections at night, because I woke up in the middle of last night with one. It still isn’t rock hard when I fully wake up though. My main concern is that my penis seems to be having a long refractory period from any stress applied to it, as of late masturbation. Also there is glans discoloration that hasn’t gone away - Red on the top side of the glans, and then purple around the bottom ring. It also feels cold at times.

I am getting pretty frustrated with this and am making a concerted effort to not mess around for at least a week. I’ve succumbed to temptation too many times and it’s taking a toll on me.

My fears are that even if I waited a super long time to do anything, masturbation or PE would bring my penis back to this weakened state again.
This glans discoloration is also concerning me, because I feel like it’s only indicating that something is wrong.

I definitely want to get back to the point where I could get erections whenever I wanted. Any more thoughts, especially concerning the glans discoloration/possible bruising?
