I have not noticed a difference in my results or the results of those that I have seen report on this site.
Think about it like going to the gym. Wondering about the the most advantageous time to go to the gym is 100 times less important than ensuring THAT you go to the gym. The same goes for PE. Figure out which of the 2 options that you mentioned will give you the most consistency and choose that one.
Also .. If you have the time, privacy and inclination, consider doing PE both times. There are boat loads of threads on this site that recommend twice-a-day routines
Do whatever it takes to do PE consistently and keep growing thick and long
