Guys store fat in different areas just depending on where they’re physically predisposed to. For instance I have almost no fat on my forearms and hands. When I flex my forearms and hands I can see veins on top of veins on my hands as well as forearms. When I say veins on top of veins I mean I have a main vein that’s 1/3 of an inch in diameter on my hand then I can see a 2nd vein that’s 1/8 inch over the first vein. On my forearms I have ~12 on each that pop out. My friends think they make me look like the hulk haha.

However as of yet I’ve never even seen my abdominal muscles. I get veins on my calves, quads, shoulders, chest, transverse bicep veins when I cut but haven’t gotten to abs yet. Always seems to be this thin layer of fat. I started TRT around a month ago so I’m hoping quadrupling my testosterone level will allow me to get abs without losing muscle mass.

I’m skeptical I’ll be able to. I’m 232 lbs at 6’ 2” with a 31 inch waist and I can do a set of 20 situps @ a 45 degree decline with a 45 lb plate on my chest so my abs are 100% not weak this time around. Really hoping I’ll see them in a couple months.

You might just store more fat on your fat pad relative to other guys just like how I store more fat on my lower back, abs and face relative to other guys.

Still if you have a 1” or greater fat pad, there is more fat that can strip…

Not entirely. I have a very small waist. Once I’m done with my cut it should be in the 28 to 29 inch range. Some guys just larger or smaller waists relative to the average. For instance Arnold had a 34 inch waist while lean which is large.

Keep in mind I’m not at a low body fat %. I’ll end up dropping to 210 to 215 lbs to reach my goal.

Although since my arms are very lean (same with calves) in comparison to the rest of me it does look like I’m at a lower % body fat than I am. Though my face could lose a bit. Like I said in my last post if it’s not cold out I get 12+ veins that pop out on each forearm.

I seem to scare most women and it takes time for them to open up. Makes you intimidating. Girls are more shy / less likely to talk to guys as it is. I mean if I saw a guy who was 7 ft tall and 300+ lbs I wouldn’t even look at him let alone talk to him haha.

I actually had more girls talk to me and interact with me when I was 160 lbs years ago.

As to the fat pad mine’s about 0.5 inches right now so I’m hoping I’ll be able to drop it to near 0 inches.

The reason you do this is your body fat stores have gotten to large and unnecessary.

Most of us in this society don’t need 3000 calories a day unless you are working a strenuous physical labor job all day…. Other than that you probably need a lot less.

If you have fat on you, then you are taking in calories that aren’t really needed and body is storing it.

Yea it depends on the person and how much activity and fat they have.

I stopped my bulk way ahead of schedule because I simply could not gain anymore weight. I was eating 4,500 to 5,000 calories a day and my roommate kept on telling me I was getting leaner but not larger. 9 to 12 hours in the gym a week burns a lot I guess.

I’m cutting @ 3,000 calories a day and my protein goal is 250 grams a day with less than 50 grams of fat a day (rest is carbs).

Depending on what WangZ’s goal is or what he’s like in terms of fat and activity he could go as low as 500 a day. Nothing burns calories faster than 500 a day haha.

But for me at least dropping under 2,500 would be kind of counterproductive.

What the hell where you doing with 9-12 hrs in the gym. College football players practice about 3-4 hrs but it’s spread out in two sessions. And it’s not all 110%..

My workout entails that I do a fully body workout 2x a week. 1) Chest, triceps, shoulders. 2) Back, biceps, forearms. 3) Quads, hams, ass, calves, abs.

So 6 days a week and each day I spend 90 to 120 minutes. The time part depends on how I feel that day because I go at 100% effort for everything and I do between 6 and 10 sets per exercise. Yea I know it’s a lot. I’ve had great success with it. I heal just fine as long as I eat a lot. I get stronger after each workout for sure.

Now I’ve dropped down to 60 minutes a day on my cut.

I’m just a firm believer in volume training as you can guess.

I always workout full body. 3 days a week.I also do fast walking 5 days a week 2.5 miles a day.It’s good.

9-12 hrs per week…. Gotcha.

When I was really into it I learned on me around 20 hrs was the point at where you can just tell that I have such a physical advantage. It was about the time, I don’t recall more time being better but 20 hrs was better than 10 hrs. It kicks the body into a physical state and reflexes, power, and other qualities are better, plus skin tone, energy, etc.

Yea for sure bro. Ideally I’d go longer but it’s hard to go to class, study, date, lift weights, do cardio, cook, etc all in one day.

It’s a good feeling coming out of the gym completely spent so I’m unable to take my shirt off.

You can do it. You do double sessions maybe the morning is just a 30 mins cardio and pumpup to get your blood flowing in the morning.

I have a little over .75” fat pad. I am gaining more weight than what I used to be so I’ll jump on board, but mostly because I want to get my 6 pack back. Plus a long NBPEL would be awesome!

I’ll do a short jog everyday while walking the dog. It is a little less than a mile.

I will start doing pull ups every other day, reps will be max number I can reach every set. Usually I do 12 then 10 then 8 and so on. Will update tomorrow, usually 5 sets is a good number for me.

Push ups every other day as well, only when I am not on pull up days.

I am somewhat of a gymnast as well so I plan to add in some back tucks and BHS which are crazy workouts for your abs. Back tucks target right in the fat pad area as well so I would like to do a few hundred each week.

Will post updates, great thread WangZ! Sometimes I think some of us are so obsessed with our dicks that we forget there is a body attached that could use some work as well!

Well since cutting down to 3,000 calories a day my recovery has tanked. Currently I’m only managing 45 minute sessions 6x a week.

It’s all about counting calories. Exercise is good but it’s much better to count calories. Find out your BMR (base metabolic rate) and how many calories you burn from activity. Eat under this amount. Every 500 you eat under this will make you lose 1 lb per week. Add in strength training so you minimize muscle loss. For most people just trying to lose fat I recommend against a lot of physical activity because it greatly increases appetite. Up to you though.

But yea longer NBPEL is always better :)

Great advice, I have always been a sucker with my diet… Like I said my metabolism is, well, just fantastic. I basically eat whatever I want and do not really gain weight. Up until recently anyway, but that is mostly because I have been very inactive this last year. Hell in college, I worked out twice a day and ate about 6-7 full meals. Everyday!

Any advice on how to figure out what my BMR is? I have never heard of calculating it before. I would be interested in loosing about 15lbs. I am also looking to tone up as well though.

Last night the dog and I ran for about a mile. He is old so its a couple minutes of running then a couple of walking. Felt great to be active though. I also did 4 sets of Pull Ups. I am out of shape, my in-durance is completely shot. I got 12 the first set, then 8, then 6, and finally 5. Yep definitely a great time to start working out again. I also was tired after 10 back tucks…. not my finest moment. Push ups tonight + another jog with the dog.
