Did anyone here struggle with girth gains, but experienced a breakthrough?

Length was always my first priority when I got started with PE. Sadly, I don’t have accurate measurements, but I think I’m a good inch longer since I started and I know I can gain more length if I just apply myself. I’ve been marginally longer than I am now in the past.
Based on getting good expansion on early girth work, I always thought gaining girth should be easy when I focused on that, but it seems like I’m stuck at a resistance level. Currently, I’m only jelqing. I’ve tried clamping, but it killed my EQ. I could possibly try it again starting really low and working myself up to higher levels. I’ve done long periods of pumping as well, with not much to show for it. Maybe I need more volume? Or more force during the session?
Quite frankly, I suspect that the core of my problem is my EQ issues which is preventing me from getting consistently good expansion and that is the real reason for my current lack of gains in the girth department. During periods of good EQ, I get great expansion when jelqing, so maybe it’s not the program or exercise that’s the real problem. There was a stretch of days a few months back where I had massive expansion during jelqing and I had a chubby semi-erection that would get frequently hard throughout the whole day. I remember thinking if this persisted, gaining in girth should be easy. Sadly, it went away. Not sure if it’s normal to even be at that level.
Anyone been in a similar situation and had a breakthrough in the girth department?
If I could gain only 0,25”, I would feel adequate. I would still want more, but would not be in a rush to get it. Currently just below 4,8 ” EG midshaft. 5,0” at the base.
