Gains after deconditioning break

I’d like to hear people’s experiences with gains after semi-long deconditioning break once they have already achieved decent gains.

In other words, that would be a break of more than few weeks, but less than several months/years after gaining something like 1” of length.

Next month I’ll be coming off a 3 month break and I’d like to know what can I expect in terms of gains after already gaining 1” of length. I’m looking to gain 0.5” more.

I don’t know of actual gains, but you can certainly really feel the tension, not like a newbie, but still not very far from it, so I think , intuitively that you can gain easier then if you didn’t take a break. I only took breaks for 1-2 weeks, so maybe ones with longer decon breaks can chime in and say more.

That’s why I think deconditioning break should do me some good, before I went on a break, I had to stretch for 45-55 minutes with quite a bit of tension to keep the gains coming. To some that maybe doesn’t sound like much, but it certainly is when you’re using your own hands.

When I get back to PE, I’m probably going to start with no more than 10 minutes of stretching a day and see where that gets me.

Those of us that have been stuck on a plateau for some time are probably too scared to take a break in case we lose some of our gains. I will really try hard to break out of this mental prison and try the deconditioning break and see how it works (maybe).

I took over six months off and found that I gained a quarter inch. Don’t be afraid to lay off a bit.

This will probably make you feel better. :) I stopped PE cold turkey and lost no more than 0.04” of length, 71 days and counting. :)

You gained 0.25” during a 6 month break? Wow man, that’s nothing short of excellent. :) Looks like I won’t be that lucky, but I’ll be glad just to keep all of my gains by the end of 3rd month. And I wouldn’t mind quick 0.25” gain when I start again. :D

For me the gains did not stop after a short break; our body’s have good memories so it good to mix up the routine and time schedules once and a while. Good luck and keep growing!

I want to take a break but I can’t I am hanging every day 2+ hours without exception :( If I start clamping would this be considered as deconditioning break? And will it unlock new Length gains ?

Changing up your PE method is not deconditioning. It’s just changing the means by which you are applying stress. That’s not a bad thing, but it’s not deconditioning.

As to whether it will unlock new length gains, try it, and then you can tell us. It may lead to length. It may increase girth. It may do both, or neither.


For Lampwick, becoming hung like a donkey was the result of a total commitment.

If you’ve hit a wall, clamping would likely make that wall even harder. :) Definitely not an exercise one should use once his length gains stop.

Why?

A well-known method of dealing with a plateau is to increase repetitions (or duration) or force, to add a different stressor, or both. If your gains have stopped, and you haven’t tried clamping, you might want to try it.

However, one can get to the point where you can’t safely add any more force, or you don’t have enough time in the day to add repetitions or length of routine. In that case, a deconditioning break can be your friend.

Gains stop because of tissue conditioning. Clamping is known to cause conditioning very fast and it doesn’t even increase length (in most cases). I’m sure there are exceptions, but I don’t really see clamping as a way to jump start length gains. I’d rather decondition first.
