Shedding the Snake: Peeling to Remove Discoloration

I’m using this product: https://www.ama … /dp/B001G7QRE4/
1) Rinse target area (in my case, a patch of foreskin, about an inch in diameter)
2) I slowly cover the area with the 17% salicylic acid gel, one small drop at a time (I try to avoid regular skin)
3) I let the gel dry into a white film (typically I leave it on for 10-15mins, and yes there is a pretty painful burning sensation)
At this point removing the white film is difficult, as it is stuck to your skin, removing it aggressively will result in more pain and redness.
4) What I found works, with minimal discomfort is, rubbing foam hand soap on the white film the gel makes, and then slowly scrapping it off (I personally use a blade of a scissor for this)

*I don’t use lotion afterwards but I’m going to purchase one that targets extra dry skin as I think it may be helpful with healing here

Other than that I would avoid masturbating or anything that puts that particular area under stress. Why? From personal experience because the skin gets really dry it looses elasticity, so stretching the skin can lead to cuts and therefore bleeding.

My schedule was inconsistent at first I tried 1 treatment every 4 days, which I wouldn’t recommend now, I found that it takes about 6 days to heal fully. So one treatment every week, is what I’m going with now.

As far as results go, the darker the discoloration the longer it is going to take. I’m going on treatment 4, most lightly discolored areas are back to normal pigmentation, but formerly heavily discolored areas are still noticeable (but significantly lighter).
I did take a before picture, and once I think I’m done with my diy treatment I might post the before and after results, somewhere on this forum if people are interested.

Thank you very much for providing the details. Good luck with the treatment and I look forward to hearing more about your results over time. :)

Update 4: I am just targeting formerly heavily pigmented areas now, lighter areas are negligible to me at this point. As I am covering a smaller area now, the pain after treatment is pretty bearable.

I would consider the heavily pigmented areas I had before treatment (around 4-5 skin tones darker than my normal skin) have lightened to about a 3 skin tone difference.

I think the lighter areas had their pigmentation in the epidermis, while the darker ones had their pigmentation rooted in the dermis. I don’t know if salicylic acid will be able to go deep enough to completely remove the pigmentation. My hope is that, through several applications of salicylic acid, the pigmented layer in the dermis will eventually rise into the epidermis, where I will finally be able to target it. Assuming the pigmented layer in the dermis isn’t replaced with another pigmented layer. -_-

Applied more salicylic acid today, this one was oddly painful compared to my other treatments. I was in agony for like 5 minutes, then another 10 minutes where the pain was bearable. I think I’m turning a bit insane at this point, but my logic is more pain the better cause it probably means it is going deeper into the skin. I’ve put too much time and suffering into this, this better work c:

Good luck to you, but I will not use salicylic acid on my penis. It can be dangerous and painful. Five minutes of pain is not worth it, and in my case it would be useless. My purple pigmentation came about using a water pump and following the instructions for use from the get go. It is basically due to tiny broken veins, and blood under the skin. It is not due to melanin, and it will go away by itself provided I stop pumping which I won’t do, so I have decided to just leave the purple discoloration alone. I only have to pump once to get the discoloration. It is not due to melanin, it is more like the color of bruises.

Be careful! If you are doing the same thing but are now getting a different result, it could mean the skin has gone through changes and you might be at risk of causing some serious damage or developing a skin condition; rash or dermatitis etc.

I’m not a doctor and have not tried the salicylic acid thing, but I have had skin conditions and the best thing is to catch it early before it develops into a nasty problem.

Thanks for your feedback, ill increase my rest period this time around. I actually went to a dermatologist about this a few months ago, he told me it’s best to not prescribe any creams like hydroquinone, that break down pigmentation, because it often leads to rashes. I had pigmentation issues for over 5 years, and I wasn’t going to just leave it alone after that, hence why I’m burning my foreskin with acid now. This thread is actually the reason why I joined this forum, since then I kinda got hooked into this whole PE thing. I’m doing firegoat rolls, to prevent discoloration from happening in the future. I’ve already removed most of my pigmentation, I’m just tackling the darkest bits that are the hardest to remove.

There is this over the counter stuff called maxi peel that contains hydroquinone and tretinoin. I bet that would work well to lighten the skin.

Gonna give salicylic acid a few more weeks, if it doesn’t work ill look into trying low concentration hydroquinone products like maxi peel. Thanks for the suggestion

I am not sure whether it has been discussed, laser treatment would be an option, I am adding a link but in case it should be removed search for "laser treatment for hemosiderin staining".

You mentioned you were treating non-PE related discolouration. Is it your raphe line you’re targeting or some other form of discolouration?

I’m treating a pretty bad case of post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation on my foreskin. Hyper-pigmentation is due to the excess production of melanin.
From what I researched, it most likely resulted from friction burns that were induced by jerking off, maybe a little too much for an extended period of time. Especially true if you happen to have sensitive skin.

Generally speaking, in my case I think the following happened
Excessive Jerking off—> friction burns—> inflammation of the epidermis—> production of melanin (pigmentation) from melanocytes.

That being said, there is a risk of salicylic acid causing an inflammatory response, and therefore making pigmentation worse. But from my experience, this didn’t happen to me. Seems like every time I use salicylic acid, the pigmentation gets slightly lighter.

Update 5: Let the area heal for a bit over a week, pigmentation looks about the same as the last time I applied salicylic acid

Been at this for a span of about a month, and I notice no serious side effects of using salicylic acid, just dry skin during the healing process.

Thanks for keeping us updated. After a month, can you quantify any results? Like “dark areas have improved 10%” or something like that? Any idea based on that month on how long the total process might take?

I would say after about a month, I did 5 applications of salicylic acid. Based on my pictures I’ve taken, I’d say the heavily pigmented area I had is about 30% lighter compared to when I originally started. Lighter pigmented areas have faded to the point where I consider it negligible, and I no longer apply salicylic acid on those areas.

I’m going to continue to use salicylic acid for now, and perhaps will switch to something else in the future if it stops being effective.
