Silicone Sleeves - Make your own

Hi,all. My first post on Thunders, reading for quit some time though. This thread inspired me to make some sleeves of my one. As my supplier at the time only had ecoflex 0010 at stock, I made them out of these. A great improvement from what I used, but I’ve goth one problem with it and that’s that the end-product stays sticky and it tends to permanently stretch over the diameter I poured it in. Any of you experienced this? I’ve red the FAQ at smooth-on and did it as far I can see by the book. Note: As I don’t have a hi-tech scale I measured the components by volume.

The staying sticky part sounds like it could be a curing issue. Is the mold, mixing container, stir stick etc clean and free of any contaminants? Are you using plastic pipe? Is the mix getting thoroughly combined before going into the mold?

The permanently stretching could be a curing issue as well, but I’m a little confused on what is happening. If you can describe differently or post a picture of what is happening, maybe I’d follow better.

Ok, I’ll try to explain how I make my sleeves. I use standard PVC plumbing pipe, an electrical PVC inner pipe, and for the smaller mold I use a equivalent of the 1 inch pipe as in you descriptions what would be a 25mm(0,98 inch) outer dia PVC plumbing pipe with an inner dia of 22mm(o,86inch). The inner pipe on this one is a aluminum pipe measuring 1cm(0,39inch)(I’m posted these measurements as the outcome looks so slim and wondered me if your 1inch pipe is one inch outer dia?).

Well, then I just measure two equal components in a way that might be a weak ling, but as seeing the posts on how easy the measuring and you don’t need a hi-tech scale, I take two paper drinking cups, put them beside a straight peace of wood, and draw a line on the two cups at what I think is reasonable accurate the same height. Tan p[ouring the induvidual components in a third cup mix hard for three minutes with a standard wooden stiring wood for paint from the local HD with painfull whrists and all scraping the wall and bottem, pour hte mixture in an athor paper cup. Stir again for three minutes, scraping again. Then I use a vacuum fresh-hold container somewath like this: Then pull it vacuum as much as possible, shaking and tapping it, withs works pretty well. And at the end just pour tea malls and let it cure for at least 24 hours at 71.5 Fahrenheit.

Wondered me if one needs stir the individual components in the container before measuring and pouring, witch should probably not as there is no mention in the instructions at Smooth-On

I had to revive this thread to once again thank TPS for sending me the kit(sorry it was the last of your supply)and let you know how it’s doing. I have made 3 sleeves already, but yesterday I had a breakthrough. I was trying to make a jelq sleeve(a sleeve that I can lube-up and do jelq exercises with) and I used a Taco Bell Cup and a bottle of shampoo for the mold. When it was done the sleeve, it was alittle too big(forgot that this stuff isn’t very constrictive, have to use a mold smaller than actual girth next time), but it was larger on one end than the other. A lightbulb went off in my head, so I started to dig around and found my old penis pump from when I was a teenager(I’m 27 now and got it when I was 17 in the back of a porn mag). The sealing sleeve tore many years ago, so I took the smaller end of the sleeve and stuffed it into the tube and flipped the remaining end around the outside of the tube. It looked good, so I tested it and it worked. WOW! I actually made a replacement sealing sleeve for my old penis pump. Got me thing of other applications for molding and casting some different kind of silicone products.

I decided to post some pics of my experiment results that I post earlier. The first pic are the Taco Bell cup and the shamppo bottle I used to make a mold. The second pic is how the two look while making a mold to make the sleeve. The third pic is the sleeve that was made next to the cup. The next pic is of my old penis pump hanging on the corner of my bed. The next pic is how the sleeve pics into the entrance of the pump. Can not post anymore pics right now, but will post the rest later. Just to give you an idea how it worked out.

You guys from thunder´s are really smart, creative and innovative. Lot and TGC theory, many kinds of hangers and now this nice tooling. Well I´d like just to share an idea of how to control the weight in this ADS. I remembered a school experience when I was a kid, we had to construct a scale and we used for that: 1 spring and 1 tube. We attached the spring inside the tube, made a “window” in the tube and then calibrate the scale using standard weights. For example, we attached 1 kg in the spring and saw how long it comes in the tube, then we made a mark on it, successively with 1,5kg, 2kg, 2,5kg. And that´s it the scale was done.

I have just a doubt, what´s the minimum and maximum flaccid girth to use this sleeve?

Start BPEL: 5,51 (14cm) x EG:4,33 (11cm)
Current BPEL: 6,06 (15,4cm) x EG:4,61 (11,7cm)
Goal BPEL: 7,5 (19cm) x EG:5,5 (14cm)

These are the last pics of my experiment. The first is the sleeve next to the cup, next pic is the pic of the sleeve it inside the pump with the remaining amount fliipped to cover the outside of the pump, and the last is a shot of how the sleeve looks on the cylinder inside of the pump. I’ll take and post some pics of me using the pump later.

I love the idea TPS and I just read through this entire post. What I gather is that the sleeves are for pumps or jelqing. Would these sleeves be strong enough to hang 10 pounds off of? When I saw how they rolled and had a string on the end it reminded me of the old Tom Hubbard “Swim cap penis hanger” so I wondered if this could stand up to the test of hanging. Any ideas?

Well, can any one point me in the direction of the silicone / latex liquid that can be bought in the UK. I have tired B & Q, (their largest & smallest stores) ASDA (for what is was worth) and two separate small D.I.Y stores..

Does any one know of a chain store that sells it? Or am I missing something? :-)

What does the forum think of making the original mould and then using the bathroom silicone sealant that you get in the tubes instead?

Sleeves were originally thought of for making an ADS. They do work great for pumping, but I can’t personally attest to them for hanging that kind of weight under actual circumstances. The idea behind passing the kit around was so others could gain experience and share their findings with everyone as I knew I wouldn’t have the time when I started this.

John, you know how when you use one of those products but you don’t use the whole thing, you put it on a shelf and the next time you do use it the tip gets dried out, so you pick off the stuff at the tip that is dried out and you can use it again? That’s what will happen with any of those products. The stuff further down in the mold won’t harden or cure properly.

Couple months down the road and I might be able to make the materials available on my website.

Thanks TPS, I know what you mean when you explain it like that, it needs air to dry / cure it properly. I never was much of a D.I.Y, er! (As my Mrs will attest!)

So any thoughts on where the stuff is available in small quantities on the UK? I have really drawn a blank..

Seems like the UK guys don’t have many options. :( Looks like Smooth-on has a distributor there so you might want to check with them.

If anybody could make me two molds, I would compensate them a fair price above their cost + shipping. I just am terrible with building stuff. I already have my silicon.

Just got my Ecoflex 0030 in today! Now I just need to hit a hardware store and get the parts I need, let you all know how it goes :)
